Despite missing a 54-yard field goal late in Sunday’s eventual loss to the Broncos, Harrison Butker will remain the Chiefs’ kicker.

Coach Andy Reid told reporters on Wednesday that the team will not be making a change.

On Monday, Reid explained that Butker’s miss to the right came from an effort to avoid having his kick blocked. “I get it,” Reid said. “It just went a little bit too wide on it.”

Through it all, former All-Pro kicker Justin Reid remains on the practice squad.

Butker has missed seven kicks in seven 2026 games. Obviously, his status will become more secure if he does the one thing an NFL team needs a kicker to do.

Make his kicks.

The next change comes on Sunday, when the 5-2 Chiefs host the 2-6 Jets.
