On Saturday afternoon, the Alabama football program picked up its most impressive win of the 2026 college football season with a blowout road victory over the LSU Tigers. The Crimson Tide came into this game needing a win in order to keep their college football playoff hopes alive, and they more than lived up to the moment, ultimately winning by a score of 31-13.

After the game, Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne gave head coach Kalen DeBoer a ringing endorsement.

“If you’re a quarterback, why would you not want to play for Kalen DeBoer?” he wondered, per Chris Vannini of The Athletic.

Indeed, quarterback Keelon Russell was excellent on Saturday, completing 17 of his 24 pass attempts for 206 yards and three touchdowns on the afternoon.

It was the second time that DeBoer has won at LSU during his tenure as the Alabama head coach.

DeBoer himself spoke on the preparation that went into this game that had him feeling confident before kickoff.

“I told them in the locker room: You can listen to a practice when the pads are popping and there’s chatter and there’s just good juice. That shows a belief that they’re going to do something and going to accomplish it. And I really felt like that was what it looked like all week long,” he siad. “It got better and better and better as we put the game plan together for these guys tonight.”

Alabama now sits at 7-2 on the season and has made it through the toughest portion of their schedule for the regular season. They will next hit the field next Saturday for a road game against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
