Week 10 continues the chaos of the 2026 college football season. The number one team in the nation has lost again. Jason Sudeikis guaranteed a Notre Dame victory over Miami, and they did just that, knocking the Hurricanes from the ranks of the undefeated. With that, this season can now be ranked among the most chaotic of all time.
This is now the fifth straight week that a team in the AP Top 2 has fallen. It began on October 10 when Texas lost to Oklahoma. The next week, both Georgia and Notre Dame fell. Then it was BYU, followed by Ohio State last week, and Miami this week. This tied 2007 as the longest such streak in AP Poll history. Teams such as Georgia, Utah, and UCLA may need to be on upset alert in Week 11.
Overall, three teams jump into the Top 25, including one team joining for the first time this year.
Previous Weeks: Preseason | Week 2 | Week 3| Week 4| Week 5| Week 6| Week 7 | Week 8| Week 9| Week 10
1. Georgia (+1)

It was complete domination by Georgia over Ole Miss on Saturday. The Bulldogs scored touchdowns on each of their first four drives, and led 28-0 at the end of the first half. Ole Miss did not score until the fourth quarter, but by then it was too late as Georgia went on to win the game 42-7. Georgia put up 481 yards of offense, including 295 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, Ole Miss had just 252 yards of total offense. They also turned the ball over twice in the loss. They will likely be ranked as the top team in the AP Poll, which will put them on upset alert when they host Missouri next Saturday.
2. Utah (+1)
Utah is now just one of two undefeated teams in the nation. The Utes survived against rival BYU on Saturday. Utah took the early lead, with a touchdown run from Devon Dampier and then a 46-yard touchdown pass from Dampier. BYU came back, though. They hit two field goals before a 75-yard touchdown pass from Bear Bachmeier to Legend Glasker made it a one-point game. LJ Martin returned to the lineup and gave BYU the lead going into the half. The Utah defense took over from there. Dampier threw a touchdown and ran another in to give Utah the 28-20 win. Dampier was phenomenal in the game, throwing for 177 yards and two scores, while running for 89 yards and two more touchdowns. Utah hits the road next week to face Arizona.
3. UCLA (+1)
The other undefeated team in the nation is UCLA. UCLA moved to 9-0 on the year with a win over Minnesota. It was one of their best offensive performances of the year. The Bruins took a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, helped out by a Wayne Knight touchdown run. Still, Minnesota tied the game before the end of the half. UCLA scored on a Ty Dieffenbach touchdown pass in the third quarter, but once again Minnesota tied the game. Still, Dieffenbach hit Aidan Miell on a 75-yard touchdown pass two times in the second half. He would end up throwing for 303 yards and three touchdowns in the game as UCLA won 34-20. UCLA gets Friday night action this week, hosting Illinois.
4. Indiana (+1)
Indiana has rebounded from their only loss of the year. They were off this past week, but moved up a spot with the loss from Miami. The Hoosiers are now 8-1 on the year. While they sit with eight wins, it has not been an easy path as of late, and their off week came at a perfect time. On October 10, they needed a fourth-quarter comeback to beat Nebraska on the road. The next week, they lost to Ohio State, 19-15, but missed the win by mere inches as Nick Marsh was out of bounds on the game-winning touchdown pass. The following week, Michigan took them to overtime, but Indiana prevailed. Last time out, Minnesota took the Hoosiers to overtime, but once again, Indiana prevailed. They will host USC next week, looking to move to 9-1.
5. Notre Dame (+2)
Notre Dame comes away with the biggest win of the weekend, knocking off the top team in the nation. The Irish controlled the first half, with two touchdown passes from CJ Carr on the way to a 17-3 lead. The Irish got another Carr touchdown pass to open the third, but Miami did not go away. They scored twice in the third to make it a seven-point game. Notre Dame extended the lead again, but with 9:53 left in the game, Darian Mensah threw another touchdown pass. After a missed field goal from the Irish, Miami had a chance to tie the game, but a pass into the back of the end zone was ruled incomplete as Elija Lofton did not complete the catch. CJ Carr was amazing, throwing for 319 yards and three touchdowns in the 31-24 win. Notre Dame hosts Boston College next week.
6. Alabama (+3)

Alabama moves up three spots after laying a beat down on LSU. The Tide were ranked fifth in the first CFP rankings, and justified that on Saturday. They hit the road and put on a show. Alabama led 10-3 at the end of the first half, with a Ryan Coleman-Williams touchdown run. LSU opened the second half with a field goal and a touchdown run, but the Tide took over from there. Keelon Russell threw three second-half touchdowns on the way to a 31-13 win. Meanwhile, the defense was strong. While Sam Leavitt threw for 380 yards, he did not have a touchdown pass and threw an interception. Alabama will look to move to 9-2 when they visit Vanderbilt. With the remaining schedule of Vanderbilt on the road and home dates with Chattanooga and Auburn, Alabama looks set to return to the College Football Playoff.
7. Texas Tech (+3)
Texas Tech looks to have found some offense. After starting 6-0, the Red Raiders fell to Cincinnati. They then knocked off Arizona before facing West Virginia this week. The move to Tommy Castellanos paid off last week, and they kept him as the starter this week. He went out and completed 18 of 27 passes for 362 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran for another 102 yards. Meanwhile, J'Koby Williams ran for 160 yards and a score. Still, the defense struggled. They allowed Michael Hawkins to throw for 303 yards and a score while running for 88 yards and three more touchdowns. They will need to figure out how to defend against a quality quarterback in a hurry, as they visit Oklahoma State next week.
8. Miami (-7)
Miami takes the tumble after their first loss of the year. The running game struggled heavily against Notre Dame as Mark Fletcher ran for just 57 yards. The team ran for 101 yards total on 28 carries. Elija Lofton and Cooper Barkate stepped up in the game. Lofton brought in seven receptions for 113 yards and a score, while Barkate had ten receptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns. Darian Mensah threw for 276 yards and three scores with one interception. Still, the offense was not the same without Malachi Toney, and the defense struggled against CJ Carr. Miami has a chance to rebound this week, hosting Duke.
9. Wake Forest (+2)
Wake Forest moved to 8-1 on the year. Their only loss of the season is against Miami, when they still had Toney. Since then, the Demon Deacons have won six straight games. This week was not a major matchup, facing off against Merrimack. Still, Wake Forest did not have a stumble at all. The team decided to rest Gio Lopez, but the other three quarterbacks combined for 546 yards passing and four touchdowns. Ten different players ran the ball for 184 yards and five more touchdowns. Meanwhile, the defense gave up just 202 total yards in the 77-0 win. Wake Forest visits SMU next week.
10. Texas (+2)
The Longhorns jump into the top ten with a huge win over Missouri. It was not an easy victory. The two teams would be tied at ten apiece at the end of the first half. They would be tied at 20 at the end of the third quarter. From there, Texas controlled the game. Raleek Brown brought in a 23-yard reception from Arch Manning for a touchdown, and later had an eight-yard touchdown run on the way to the 34-20 win. With multiple receivers out for the Longhorns, Emmett Mosley V stepped up, bringing in five receptions for 85 yards in the win. Texas will visit LSU next week.
11. Tennessee (+4)

Tennessee takes a big jump in the rankings after a solid win. After upsetting Alabama on October 17, Tennessee fell to South Carolina the next week. They then had an off week before hosting Kentucky. Tennessee controlled the game from the go. Duane Morris broke out for a 66-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, helping the Vols build a 10-6 lead going into the halftime break. They would add to the lead with a field goal in the third. Faizon Brandon threw a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, while DeSean Bishop ran in two touchdowns on the way to the 34-6 win. They will visit Texas A&M next week.
12. BYU (-6)
BYU was once one of the top teams in the nation, but a second loss this year has them struggling to hold on to a potential playoff spot. After a 6-0 start, they lost to UCF in double overtime on the road. The Cougars rebounded to beat Arizona State the next week, but lost to Utah 28-20 this past week. Bear Bachmeier was not at his best. He completed 21 of 35 passes for 272 yards and a touchdown, but four interceptions sunk BYU. They will need to rebound in a big way to make a playoff run, and that starts next week against Baylor at home.
13. Kentucky (-5)
The Kentucky win streak has come to an end. After winning six straight following the loss to Alabama, Kentucky was manhandled by Tennessee. Kentucky controlled time of possession and had 20 first downs. They also lost the yardage battle by just 28 yards. Still, they had three turnovers in the game and lost the turnover battle. Kentucky has been great at forcing turnovers all year, but could not do it against Tennessee, losing 34-6. They will look to get back to the win column against Florida this upcoming weekend.
14. Boise State (+4)
The top team in the group of six just keeps running up the power rankings. Since a seven-point loss to Oregon to open the season, not one has been able to touch the Broncos. This past week, Colorado State was the victim. The game was not close, as Boise State opened with a 73-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Riley from Max Cutforth. They converted the two-point conversion to take an 8-0 lead. The offense did not slow down from there. They scored touchdowns on their first four drives of the game, and on nine of ten full drives in the game. Cutforth started in place of Maddux Madsen and completed 16 of 19 passes for 317 yards and four scores. Meanwhile, Dylan Riley ran for 192 yards and two touchdowns. Overall, they put up 669 yards of offense in the 64-38 win. Still, the defense gave up 513 yards, something that could be an issue next week as they host Oregon State.
15. Houston (+6)
Houston has moved to 7-2 on the year. They have just two losses, both coming on the road and both by just a score. They were also against Texas Tech and Utah. While not a top-ten team in the nation, they should be respected. This past week, it was a win over Cincinnati. Houston opened up a lead on two Amare Thomas touchdowns in the first quarter, and led 21-10 going into the halftime break. Still, Cincinnati would tie the game at 24 in the fourth quarter. A 51-yard touchdown run from Re'Shaun Sanford II would be the difference, as the Cougars won 31-24. Houston will visit Colorado on Friday night for their next contest.
16. Oregon (+10)

Welcome back to the Top 25, Oregon. While the team has losses to Oklahoma State, UCLA, and Illinois, they have knocked off USC, Northwestern, and now Ohio State. Ohio State started strong, with two first-quarter touchdown runs from Bo Jackson. Still, the Ducks rallied to take a 17-14 lead going into the halftime break. The third quarter saw more domination, with two more touchdowns. They would continue to build the lead and beat the Buckeyes 41-28. Dylan Raiola passed for 257 yards and two scores, while Dierre Hill Jr. ran for two touchdowns in the win. Oregon will host Michigan next week.
17. USC (+3)
The Trojans also move up in the rankings, sitting just behind Oregon. They are 7-2 on the year. One of those losses is a 41-27 loss to Oregon at home, which keeps them behind the Ducks. They also lost on the road 24-7 to Wisconsin. Last time they hit the field, they beat Ohio State 30-18. USC just had the week off and has a chance to disrupt the college football world over the last three weeks of the season. They will visit Indiana this week before hosting Maryland. They then visit UCLA to end the season. Going 1-2 will take them out of the playoff race. Going 3-0 likely sends Lincoln Riley to the playoffs for the first time as the USC head coach.
18. Iowa (+4)
Iowa is also 7-2 on the year, and moves up after another big win. This past week, they visited Northwestern and took a huge win. Hank Brown threw two first-half touchdowns to build the 14-0 lead. After Northwestern hit a field goal in the third quarter, Iowa responded with a Braeden Jackson 96-yard kickoff return for the touchdown. They would add another field goal before giving up a touchdown in the fourth on the way to a 24-10 win. Iowa will host Purdue next week.
19. New Mexico (+5)

The group of six race of the playoffs is becoming clearer every week. Boise State still has the inside track, but New Mexico would like a say. They are now 8-1, with the only loss of the year coming on the road by eight points to Oklahoma. This past week, New Mexico played as a ranked team for the first time in school history. They did not disappoint against Nevada. Scottre Humphrey ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns, while the defense was great. Nevada has just 97 yards of offense, including negative nine yards on the ground in the 31-3 win for New Mexico. They will host UNLV next week.
20. Arizona (-1)
Arizona drops a spot after their win this week. The Wildcats are 7-1, but have not defeated a ranked team. Their two losses are to BYU and Texas Tech. This past week, they hosted TCU. Arizona scored on their first drive with a touchdown pass from Noah Fifita, and built a 10-0 lead. Still, TCU scored on a touchdown run, and then on a 93-yard pick-six by Hudson Hooper. In the second half, TCU built a 28-20 lead. Arizona scored on another Fifita touchdown pass with 1:45 left in the game, but failed on the two-point conversion. On the first play of the next drive, Jaden Craig dropped back to pass. He was intercepted by Tyrese Boss, setting up the game-winning field goal, as Arizona survived 29-28. They have a massive test this week, hosting number two Utah.
21. Ole Miss (-7)
Ole Miss took a tumble this week. It was not the fact that they lost to Georgia, but how they lost to the Bulldogs. The defense was nonexistent, giving up 481 yards, with 295 of them coming on the ground. Meanwhile, the Ole Miss run game was bad. Makhi Frazier ran the ball four times for just eight yards. Shekai Mills-Knight led the backfield with 13 carries, but for only 52 yards and a score. Meanwhile, Trinidad Chambliss was just 18 of 34 passing for 170 yards with an interception and a fumble lost. Ole Miss fell 42-7. They look to bounce back next week on the road against Oklahoma.
22. Ohio State (-9)
No Julian Sayin has proved to be an issue for Ohio State. Sayin was injured in the win over Indiana. They then had a week off to prepare for life without him. Since then, they have lost two straight. Luke Fahey has been the starting quarterback. Last week, he passed for 260 yards and a touchdown. This week, against Oregon, he completed 36 of 50 passes for 360 yards and two touchdowns, but threw an interception. Meanwhile, Jeremiah Smith was clearly frustrated. He hauled in seven receptions for 133 yards and a score, but it was not enough as Ohio State lost the game 41-28. The Buckeyes host Northwestern next week.
23. South Carolina (+3)

South Carolina opened the season 2-0, but the wins were over Kent State and Towson. They proceeded to lose three straight, falling to Mississippi State, Alabama, and Kentucky. Since then, the Gamecocks have clawed back into relevance. They have now won four in a row, and this week it was the defense that led the way against Texas A&M. Despite giving up 450 yards of offense, they held the Aggies to three field goals in the red zone. Meanwhile, LaNorris Sellers threw for 251 yards and a touchdown, while also scoring once on the ground in the 17-9 win. South Carolina will look to keep the winning streak going, as they visit Arkansas next week.
24. LSU (-8)
Lane Kiffin has yet to coach a game in the College Football Playoff. He had a chance last year, but left Ole Miss for LSU before the playoffs. He will not have a chance this year. LSU came into the game against Alabama as the favorite, and fell at home 31-13. Sam Leavitt threw for 380 yards, but did not have a touchdown pass and threw an interception. Meanwhile, the defense allowed just 285 yards to Alabama, but short fields allowed the Tide to dominate the game. LSU has another tough week ahead of them, as they host Texas.
25. Liberty (+1)
The Group of Six does not get a ton of respect. The conversation as of late has been about Boise State, but Liberty is sneaking up into the conversation. Two teams remain undefeated, while nine other teams have one loss. Each of the other ten teams is ranked here, and this is team 11. Liberty is now 8-1 and has won eight in a row. They opened the season with a seven-point loss on the road to James Madison, before a one-point win over Gardner-Webb. Since then, they have been on fire. This past week, it was a 30-14 win on the road over New Mexico State. Deshawn Purdie threw for 252 yards, while the team ran for another 147 yards in the 30-14 win. Liberty returns home for a game against Middle Tennessee this upcoming week. With some losses for Boise State and New Mexico, the Flames have an outside chance of making the playoffs.
Dropped from the Top 25: Missouri, UTSA, Northwestern
Just Missed Out: Missouri, North Texas
