Coach Mike Macdonald's team lost a 34-17 game to the Chicago Bears at home in Week 8 that led to stark comments from the Seahawks coach afterward. Defensive end Leonard Williams left the game with a stinger that gave him a questionable status for the future.
The Seahawks are now 4-4 on the season, suddenly tied with Matt Stafford's Los Angeles Rams and behind the 6-1 San Francisco 49ers as things begin to heat up.
Seattle got just 81 yards on the ground against the Bears, showing their crying need for another running back. As the November 10 trade deadline draws closer, it's time for Seahawks GM John Schneider to bite the bullet and realize he must make a splashy move to vault the Seahawks back into their rightful place as a Super Bowl contender.
The Seahawks should trade for Colts star Jonathan Taylor

Jonathan Taylor's name has been bandied about as a potential player that the Seahawks might trade for, and now is the perfect time for Seattle to inquire about him after losing to the Bears. The Seahawks got walloped 34-17 at home, a bad omen heading into the second half of the season.
Taylor is still a top 5-10 or higher talent as a running back who finds himself on a sinking ship in Indianapolis. The Colts running back showed his grit and tenacity with bold comments after his team's latest loss to the Jaguars, positioning himself as a warrior and the kind of guy who would fit in well on Macdonald's roster.
Taylor isn't just a running back, he's a battering ram, durable and powerful enough to punish opposing defenses with 15 to 25 carries per game. The Seahawks have solid runners in Jadarian Price and Zach Charbonnet, but neither guy is a feature back approaching the same level as Kenneth Walker III, who won Super Bowl MVP for Seattle last season.
The Seahawks might have to part with a ‘Christian McCaffrey level package' to obtain Taylor, but it's worth it. Seattle must push its chips to the middle of the table now before it's too late, as the Bears, 49ers and Lions look like better teams at this juncture of the NFL season.
Article Continues BelowSchneider can't afford to stand pat at trade deadline
Schneider and the Seahawks' brass simply cannot afford to stand pat at the trade deadline after the Bears exposed them on Monday night football. Ben Johnson's team looked better in all phases, and the Seahawks' M.O. as a team simply isn't working with Walker in Kansas City and the running game not putting the fear of God into opposing teams as it did last season.
John Schneider and the Seahawks are quickly becoming an NFL afterthought, and that's the last thing they need with a talented roster led by Sam Darnold in need of serious help. By pulling the trigger on a deal for Taylor, fans will get excited again, and the balance of power in the NFC West could shift overnight.
