The series opener will be played at the Eden Park, Auckland.
After a late resurgence by the hosts to end the T20Is 3-2 in favour of the visitors, New Zealand (NZ) and India (IND) will now cross swords in the longer format with the first ODI between the two teams set to be played at the Eden Park in Auckland on Wednesday, November 04.
New Zealand were at the receiving end of things in the T20Is, but the upcoming five 50-over contests pose an excellent chance for them to exact their revenge. Led by Mitchell Santner, the BlackCaps are without the services of experienced keeper-bat Devon Conway, who injured himself a day ahead of the series opener. With multiple other injuries surrounding the New Zealanders, they will find it challenging to set an ideal XI.
India, on the other hand, have been in some terrific form in ODIs recently, having whitewashed the Caribbeans 3-0 at home recently. With the preparation for the 2027 World Cup already underway, all eyes will be on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and how the two go about batting. However, it will also be interesting to see if their bowling attack can put up a show with Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna being absent.

Eden Park, Auckland: Pitch Report
The pitch that will be hosting the first ODI of the series is not the same that was on offer for the fourth T20I and as a result, the bowlers can expect a role for themselves. The boundary dimensions are extremely uneven and small, which could still run in batters' favour, though. While there is some chance of precipitation on the matchday, the rain is unlikely to cause any major hindrance during the course of the game.

NZ vs IND: Probable Best Performers of the Match
Probable Best Batter: Shubman Gill
The Indian captain Shubman Gill has been going on in terrific form, especially in one-day internationals, at the moment. His exploits in the recent home fixtures against the West Indies earned him a Player of the Series award for his 334 runs at an average of 167.00, which includes a double hundred as well. With form on his side, the opening batter will be looking to make a mark in the same country he made his ODI debut in 2019.
Probable Best Bowler: Matt Henry
Matt Henry has always proved to be a threat to India's batters, especially in white-ball cricket. His effectiveness comes from a mixture of pace and the ability to swing the ball both ways with the new leather in his arms. The express pacer will be banking on his skills with the new ball and will be looking to strike breakthroughs early on in the innings.
