Arsenal vs Sunderland predictions and betting tips – Gunners seek another win
Arsenal moved six points clear of the chasing pack in the Premier League title race last weekend, and they now have the chance to extend their lead over Manchester City – at least temporarily.
Can Sunderland halt Arsenal’s momentum, or will Mikel Arteta’s men come out on top at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon?

Arsenal vs Sunderland predictions
Arsenal are exactly where they want to be at this stage of the season.
On Tuesday night the Gunners advanced to the final of the EFL Cup, beating Chelsea 1-0 to complete a 4-2 aggregate victory.
A week earlier Arsenal secured top spot in the league phase of the Champions League, advancing directly to the round of 16 in the process.
The Premier League table, meanwhile, shows Arsenal with a six-point lead over Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola’s side could only manage a 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur last time out, and for all the question marks over Arsenal’s mental strength and staying power, City look like the more vulnerable team right now.
No one in the red-and-white half of north London should take anything for granted just yet, however. Arsenal must still visit the Etihad Stadium, where all else being equal a defeat would halve the gap between the top two.
Arsenal have other tricky tests on the horizon, including a trip to Tottenham later this month and a home game against Chelsea in early March.
After Saturday’s showdown with Sunderland, Arsenal will play three away matches on the bounce. There are doubtless more twists and turns to come in this title race.
Yet Arsenal’s position at the summit of the standings is no accident. They have been the best team in the Premier League this term by some distance.
Arsenal lead the way for expected goals difference and actual goal difference. They have won the most matches and lost the fewest. No team has collected more points than the Gunners at home or away. In short, Arsenal are the most complete team in the country – and probably in Europe too.
Whereas previous campaigns were derailed by injuries in the winter and spring, Arsenal have an impressively deep squad these days. Their second XI would probably challenge for Champions League qualification.
With Manchester City not in action until Sunday, when they face a difficult assignment away to Liverpool, Arsenal have the chance to further extend their lead in top spot when Sunderland visit the capital.
The Black Cats have been the surprise package of 2025/26, but this is still an excellent opportunity for Arsenal to put more pressure on City.
Arsenal vs Sunderland betting tips
Arsenal and Sunderland are ready to do battle in the Premier League this weekend.
Hosts will have too much
Sunderland fans are having the time of their lives this season. Most would have settled for a 17th-place finish, but Regis Le Bris’s side are instead in the mix for European qualification.
A 3-0 victory over Burnley on Monday night saw Sunderland rise to eighth in the standings, with four points all that is separating them from the top five.
Sunderland gave Arsenal a tough match in the reverse fixture, drawing 2-2 at the Stadium of Light in November.
But while the Black Cats are unbeaten on home turf in 2025/26, they rank 17th in the away table and have scored only six goals in 12 matches at opposition grounds.
A victory and a clean sheet beckon for Arsenal.

Sunderland up against it
Arsenal will be looking to make a fast start on Saturday.
Sunderland will pack men behind the ball and defend in a low block. The longer the visitors can keep the score level at 0-0, the happier they will be.
An early goal for the hosts would force Sunderland to come out, thus opening up space in behind for Arsenal to attack.
Whether or not they can strike in the first few minutes remains to be seen, but we do expect Arsenal to make a breakthrough before the interval.
From there, they would be in a strong position to collect maximum points.

Another goal for Gyokeres?
The jury is still out on Viktor Gyokeres, but this is the sort of match in which he could thrive.
Arsenal will dominate possession against Sunderland, so Gyokeres does not need to get too involved in the build-up.
Instead, he should focus on finding space inside the penalty area and pouncing on any chances that come his way.
Gyokeres scored against Leeds United last weekend and he will give the Sunderland backline something to think about here.
The Sweden international is not the most polished striker, but we expect him to have a good afternoon in this one.
