Arsenal exploring shock deal to sign Vinicius Jr after Premier League rivals decide against move

Arsenal are contemplating a move for Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior, talkSPORT understands.

The Gunners are yet to engage in club-to-club talks for the Brazilian, with the player viewed as an option rather than their number one target.

The 26-year-old has also been offered to Liverpool, however the Reds have opted against pursuing the transfer.

Arsenal’s interest comes after Real Madrid tabled an offer for RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande.

The LaLiga giants saw an opening bid of £85.4million rejected by Leipzig.

However Madrid are confident of tying up a deal for the Ivory Coast international.

Vinicius Jr and Diomande are part of the same agency meaning Diomande could be a direct replacement for the Brazilian.

It is also believed that Vinicius Jr’s wages could prove to be stumbling block for the Premier League champions should they look to formalise their interest.

And there is currently no indication that Vini Jr will end up at the Emirates, despite being on Arsenal‘s radar.

Though they are prepared to open talks if they are given encouragement from the player.

Real Madrid are keen to not lose the forward on a free transfer with the winger tied down at the Bernabeu until 2027.

As of yet, there has been no breakthrough in terms of Vini Jr extending his stay.

Should Real fail to make progress on a deal then a move away form the club cannot be ruled out, according to sources at the Spanish club.

Renewal talks have taken place for over a year with an agreement having come close.

Vinicius Jr previously halted negotiations after falling out with former boss Xabi Alonso.

He has been linked with a money-spinning move to Saudi Arabia with Al Ahli with a €1bn five-year contract offered to him last year.

Brazil’s talisman

The winger was arguably Brazil’s standout player during the World Cup.

He featured in each of his country’s five matches at the tournament, scoring four goals before their eventual round-of-16 defeat to Norway.

Last season, he netted 22 times in an underwhelming campaign for Real Madrid.

Los Blancos ended the season without silverware having finished runners-up to rivals Barcelona in La Liga.

But he has been embroiled in high-profile controversies during the course of the season including a racism storm in the Champions League clash against Benfica in February.
