Arne Slot makes tactical change after advice from Liverpool player in ‘never before seen moment’
Arne Slot appeared to be given tactical advice by one of his own players during Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
The incident was spotted during the first half at the City Ground on Sunday.

Liverpool had found themselves under constant pressure against Forest before a tactical change from Slot.
The Reds boss moved Dominik Szoboszlai into midfield and dropped Curtis Jones to right-back in a bid to stem the tide.
His alteration was noticed by talkSPORT’s Micky Gray, who also spotted a bizarre moment before the decision was made.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson appeared to approach the Reds head coach to tell him change the system.
Gray pinpointed the incident after being asked about Wayne Rooney’s recent criticism of Slot by Sam Matterface.
The former England international had claimed that the Dutchman ‘lacks the aura’ to be Liverpool boss.
Speaking on GameDay Live, Gray explained: “Well, Sam, there was a really interesting moment in the game where I’ve never seen it before, where Alisson actually ran across to the manager, Arne Slot, and told him to change the system.
“Now, a goalkeeper telling a manager that, a manager would push him away and say, ‘look, I’ll sort this side of things out, I’m the coach, I’ll sort things out.’
“But from that, that’s when Szoboszlai came into midfield, and that’s when Curtis Jones went to the right-back position. They just couldn’t get out.
“So, authority-wise, I don’t know. Look, he got a team last season that were flying high, they were full of confidence, they went on to win the Premier League, obviously.

“He’s went out and spent an absolute fortune in the summer this time around. But I don’t see it, Sam.
“Last week, when I watched them at Brighton, they played very well, actually, but Mo Salah today, he’s touched the ball about five times, he’s given it away four times.
“He’s been terrible, he’s not the only one as well, they’ve just not got going at all.”
Liverpool leave it late
Although the change of system prevented Forest from scoring, Liverpool were made to wait before finally breaking the deadlock as they secured a vital win.
Alexis Mac Allister’s strike in the seventh minute of stoppage time proved to be the winner despite a lengthy VAR check for offside.
The midfielder had seen another effort ruled out moments earlier following a review with the ball striking his arm en route to hitting the net.

His goal sees Liverpool pull level on points with Chelsea and Manchester United in the race for the top four.
What did Rooney say about Slot?
Rooney’s recent comments on Slot prompted a response from the Liverpool boss during his pre-match press conference.
During the latest episode of The Overlap Fan Debate, Rooney said: “I just don’t think, for Liverpool, he has that aura.
“Maybe that’s because Liverpool have just come off the back of Jurgen (Klopp) as manager. It’s difficult for anyone to do that, but I just don’t think there is that aura about him.”
Slot was asked about the comments ahead of this weekend’s trip to face Forest, and responded: “Comparing people with each other is something everyone has the right to do, but is that fair to compare people with each other?
“We are all different. The only thing we have in common, Jurgen and me, is that we both won the league and that’s not too bad, is it?

“I think the more a manager wins, the more aura he has – that’s in general. I don’t know if you agree with Wayne Rooney by the way, but if this would be the general opinion, then I think people would probably tell you last season I had more aura than this season.
“But maybe he’s the only one who has this opinion, I don’t know, you tell me. It’s the first time that I heard this, but I think it’s fair to say that Jurgen definitely has an aura.
“I can talk about him, not about myself, but he definitely had that [aura]. But, a winning manager has an aura as well.”
Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp as manager in the summer of 2024 before winning the Premier League in his first season at the helm.
