AEW star Chris Jericho breaks silence on WWE return rumors
Absent from in-ring action for almost a year, Chris Jericho surprised the world when he returned to AEW on the Apr. 1, 2026, episode of Wednesday Night Dynamite. Jericho was last seen losing to Bandido at AEW Dynasty last year. Afterward, he went on hiatus from AEW and became heavily rumored to join WWE and retire there.
However, soon the chances of Jericho’s WWE return started fading away. After he no-showed WWE RAW’s Netflix anniversary and the 2026 Royal Rumble, more questions began to rise about his AEW status. Dismissing his WWE return speculation, Jericho made his AEW return and is now again a regular part of Dynamite.
Recently speaking with David Shoemaker of Ringer Wrestling for a new interview, Jericho was asked about the rumors of him possibly having talks with WWE. “The interesting thing about fans — going back to what we said earlier about having a career where you can watch anything online — is that fans in this day and age, they form their own opinions and then it becomes law because the opinions spread. Whatever people believed or didn’t believe, I was not ever a part of any of it,” Jericho answered.
“I think the best part was there was so much speculation of what is he going to do that either way, with the tribalism of wrestling nowadays, there’d be people happy about it and not happy about it. This is the worst thing ever, and this is the best thing ever. I’ve never really focused on that side of, like, this is terrible, and it’s never going to work. To me, anything can work, and you always want to do your best to make it work. I focus on the people who are excited about things, the people who want to be entertained, want to be happy and want to have fun. That’s kind of the crowd that I focus on.”
The veteran is now back in All Elite Wrestling and has already competed at AEW Dynasty and is set to be a part of the upcoming AEW Double or Nothing 2026 PPV.
