Aces HC Becky Hammon on verge of historic milestone only bested by 1 person

Becky Hammon already has plenty of accolades under her belt as the head coach of the Las Vegas Aces, and she’s about to add another just a few weeks into the 2026 WNBA season. Hammon will become the second-fastest coach in the league’s history to reach 150 wins with her team’s next victory, as she enters Thursday’s matchup with the Dallas Wings at 149 within just 203 games.

The only courtside boss to hit 150 victories faster than Hammon in W history was Van Chancellor, who only needed 198 contests while leading the legendary Houston Comets squad to four straight championships by 2002. The impressive achievement puts Hammon ahead of fellow icons Cheryl Reeve and Michael Cooper, who both reached the mark at 212 games in 2015 and 2008, respectively, and Curt Miller and Mike Thibault, who did it within 247 contests in 2022 and 2009, respectively.

A six-time WNBA All-Star with the New York Liberty and San Antonio Silver Stars, Hammon has already left her impact on the WNBA in more ways than one. The Liberty inducted her into the Ring of Honor in 2015, just six years before she took over as the Aces’ coach in 2021.

Hammon quickly won Coach of the Year in 2022, making her the first former WNBA player to claim the award in their first season coaching. A month later, she became the first coach in the W’s history to win a title the same year they made their debut, and she led the Aces to two more championships in 2023 and 2025.
