$375m star Tom Brady to miss next two Super Bowls as Fox face uncertainty over Terry Bradshaw future

Tom Brady’s first two seasons with Fox are a wrap.

In 2024, the network signed the seven-time Super Bowl winner to a ten-year, $375 million deal to be the network’s top color commentator alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt.

After a rocky start, Tom Brady was widely praised for his insightful analysis throughout the NFL postseason.

His chemistry with Burkhardt went from strength to strength as they called the Super Bowl in Brady’s first year as a broadcaster.

TB12 did a stellar job in the booth for Super Bowl LIX, using all of his experience to provide color for the Philadelphia Eagles‘ 40-22 blowout of the Kansas City Chiefs in that season’s showpiece.

Brady ended his first year with Fox on a high, and continued that through the 2025 season, where fans and experts alike agreed that Brady had grown into his role and was a natural.

Tom Brady won’t call Super Bowl until 2029

However, the Las Vegas Raiders minority owner did not work Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California earlier this month, which saw the Seattle Seahawks dismantle his former team, New England.

The reason? The NFL’s annual spectacle is covered as part of a four-year broadcasting rotation with the three other major TV networks.

This year was the turn of NBC.

The rotation means that Fox, and in turn Brady, will not cover the Super Bowl again until 2029 (Super Bowl LXIII) and the culmination of the 2028 NFL season, after ESPN and CBS will take turns televising the next two big games (Super Bowl 61 and 62).

That’s all well and good for Brady, who will still have another four years left on his Fox deal by then.

Fox face uncertainty over Terry Bradshaw future

However, it’s unclear if Fox colleague Terry Bradshaw will still be with the network by the time it next broadcasts the Super Bowl.

Bradshaw revealed when he plans on walking away from the network that he has spent the better part of three decades with.

“I told my wife before I left the room a while ago,” the former Steelers QB said at a Fox Sports press conference in New Orleans before Super Bowl LIX.

“I was sitting there and I got two years left at Fox. I’m 76. It’s a young man’s game, I get that. Everybody wants the new thing.

“So I said if we can get to the next Super Bowl, I’ll be 80.

“I think that’s time and that’s 80 years old and that’s pushing it.”

Bradshaw says he has two years remaining on his contract, so he would need to be resigned and extended for two more years if he is hoping to reach his goal of covering Super Bowl LXIII with Fox.

Running backs of all-time – Stacking Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith and more

Tight ends of all-time – How does Travis Kelce compare?

Bradshaw has faced several calls to retire in recent months after a string of embarrassing on-air gaffes.

“Legendary run, but he should have been off the air 5 years ago,” one fan posted to X (formerly Twitter) after a recent Sam Darnold rant.

“It might be getting time for Terry to step down & allow younger voices to prevail,” a second fan commented.

“They HAVE to cut him loose after this season, it’s well past time,” a third wrote.

Back in December, Bradshaw suffered another gaffe when appearing to forget that Jordan Love and Micah Parsons were both on the Green Bay Packers when the studio crew were discussing Parsons’ ACL injury ahead of their divisional matchup against the Chicago Bears.

At other points throughout the 2025 season, he has gone on a strange Josh Allen-airport ramble and also shared a bizarre story involving Andy Reid and a pig.

Although some have called for Bradshaw to retire, co-host Cut Menefee could never see his colleague walking away of his own free will.

“It’s never gonna happen!” Menefee said back in December. “They’re going to be carrying him out in a hearse — he is not leaving the show. Nor should he!”
