2025 NCAA Individual Champion Michael La Sasso to sign with LIV Golf, HyFlyers GC
LIV Golf has picked up another big name.
The league at large and HyFlyers GC, Phil Mickelson’s team, announced a new member of their roster on Tuesday morning. 2025 NCAA Division I Individual Men’s Golf Champion Michael La Sasso is set to join the group.
HyFlyers GC of the LIV Golf League today announced the signing of Michael La Sasso, the 2025 NCAA Division I Individual Men’s Golf Champion, ahead of the 2026 season. La Sasso’s addition underscores the franchise’s commitment to blending rising talent with experienced leadership in pursuit of sustained success.
La Sasso captured the NCAA title with an 11-under total, becoming just the second champion in University of Mississippi history and cementing himself as one of college golf’s most formidable talents. His breakout 2025 campaign included First Team All-American and First Team All-SEC honors, finalist nods for both the Jack Nicklaus Division I Player of the Year and the Haskins Award, and the lowest single-season scoring average in Ole Miss history (69.48), signaling readiness for the next level of competition.
“I’m incredibly excited to join HyFlyers GC and take this next step in my career,” said LaSasso. “It’s a rare opportunity to learn from one of the greatest players in the history of the game, and I don’t take that lightly. LIV Golf allows me to compete at the highest level on a global stage, and I thrive in a team environment, especially one with the camaraderie and support that defines HyFlyers GC. My focus is on learning, continuing to improve, and doing everything I can to help our team succeed.”
La Sasso is obviously referring to Mickelson in reference to one of the greatest players of all time and he is certainly correct that learning from Phil can be vital with regards to development for the future.
LIV Golf has presented a different type of opportunity for players leaving college and newly turning professional. Recall that during last year’s season Josele Ballester turned pro following his run at Arizona State and immediately joined LIV Golf’s Fireballs GC and his fellow Spaniard in Sergio Garcia. That was also touted as an example of a younger player learning at the foot of someone who had walked in their shoes before, so to speak.
The LIV Golf season begins in Riyadh over the first weekend in February and the league confirmed that La Sasso will be making his debut there as well.
