What horses does Sir Alex Ferguson have racing at Cheltenham Festival 2026?

Sir Alex Ferguson could be preparing another successful week at the Cheltenham Festival.

The legendary Manchester United manager has been vocal about his love for horse racing and invested heavily in the sport.

Ferguson has reportedly owned around 30 horses, one of which was a winner in Gloucestershire in 2025.

Caldwell Potter triumphed in the Jack Richards Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase to land £64,300 of the total £125,000 prize fund.

However, the Cheltenham champion won’t be racing this year after suffering an injury at Newbury in October.

Its trainer Paul Nicholls announced on X that the horse would be out for the rest of the season.

Ferguson is also set to be without Live Conti who, like Caldwell Potter, was dealt a season-ending injury.

Which of Ferguson’s horses will race at Cheltenham?

Ferguson is still set to have plenty to play for at Cheltenham Festival this year, despite the aforementioned absences.

Il Ridoto will compete in the TrustATrader Plate Handicap Chase on the Tuesday, where the winner banks £84,405.

Two days later, it will race the Rosconn Group Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Chase for a £36,233 prize.

Also set to run is L’Eau du Sud, who is in the BetMGM Queen Mother Champion Chase that boasts a whopping £225,080 for the winner.

Regent’s Stroll will be battling to take Caldwell Potter’s Jack Richards Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase title.

In the Ryanair Chase on the Thursday, Ferguson will have Protektorat running for a grand prize of £211,013.

Monmiral is also listed to race the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle, where finishing first banks £61,897.

Ferguson is part of a syndicate called El Rincon, who will have Potters Charm running across the Wednesday and Thursday.

The BetMGM Cup Handicap Hurdle brings £61,897 for the winner, with Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle champion earning £182,878.
