West Ham vs Manchester United predictions
What a difference a month makes.
On January 7, Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw by Burnley. That result extended their winless run to three Premier League games, while it also meant United had won just one of their last six.
Ruben Amorim had gone by then, but Darren Fletcher failed to make an immediate impact as caretaker boss.
Fast forward to February 7 and United, now under the stewardship of Michael Carrick, were celebrating a fourth consecutive victory in the top flight for the first time in two years.
After guiding the team to success against Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham, Carrick maintained his 100 percent record with a 2-0 defeat of Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
It was an even affair for the first 30 minutes, at which point the game swung decisively in United’s favour. A brainless tackle by Cristian Romero earned the Spurs centre-back a straight red card, handing United a huge opportunity.
They duly took it. Goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes made the difference as Carrick’s charges collected another three points.
All of a sudden, United are right back in the top-five conversation. They are unlikely to maintain this sort of form for the remainder of the campaign, but the Red Devils are now in a fantastic position to qualify for the Champions League.
Being absent from Europe and out of the two domestic cups is generally not ideal for the biggest club in the country, but the ability to focus on just one competition should serve United well in the months ahead.
Things have gone so well of late that some of a United persuasion are starting to look higher. Aston Villa are now just three points in advance of the Red Devils, while Manchester City are within six points.
Carrick is not getting ahead of himself, but the mood at Old Trafford is unrecognisable compared to what it was just a few short weeks ago.
“It’s difficult to comment in terms of what’s changed,” Carrick said at the weekend. “I’m pleased with the buy-in, connection and everyone’s invested in it. I think that goes a long way.
“The four games we’ve had have all slightly looked different, but we’re not getting carried away. I’m not sitting here thinking ‘everything’s great, we’ve cracked it’. There’s a lot of work to do so, and I’m fully aware of that.”
West Ham vs Manchester United betting tips
Relegation battlers West Ham United face top-five hopefuls Manchester United on Tuesday.
Man Utd to march on
West Ham United are also on the up.
A 2-0 win against Burnley last time out means they have now triumphed in three of their last four league outings, closing the gap to the teams above them in the process.
West Ham are still in trouble. They remain in the bottom three and are third-favourites for the drop behind Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley, both of whom look doomed.
But despite their undoubted improvement of late, West Ham will probably come unstuck against Manchester United.
Carrick’s team have the bit between their teeth at the moment and they should prove too strong for the Hammers.
Tip Manchester United to win at 3/4 with Midnite
Goals on cards
Nuno Espirito Santo is known as a defence-minded coach, but West Ham United’s upturn in fortunes has coincided with his adoption of a more attacking line-up.
With Matheus Fernandes in central midfield and four out-and-out forwards ahead of him, West Ham pack a punch in the final third these days.
With nine goals in their last four matches, there is every reason to believe West Ham will give the Manchester United defence something to think about.
At the same time, it is hard to see Carrick’s team being shut out here. Goals at both ends, and at least three in total, is well worth backing.

Fernandes involved again
Bruno Fernandes reached 200 direct goal involvements for Manchester United with his strike against Tottenham Hotspur.
He is the second-fastest United player to reach that figure in Premier League history, behind only Wayne Rooney.
He still does not get the acclaim he deserves, but it is increasingly hard to argue against the notion that Fernandes is the best player in the country.
The Portugal international is usually at the heart of everything United do and that will be the case again on Tuesday.
