West Ham United vs Arsenal predictions
What a week it has been for Arsenal.
The first positive development occurred last weekend, when Mikel Arteta’s men delivered one of their best performances of the calendar year in a 3-0 victory over Fulham.
The good news continued on Monday, as Manchester City could only manage a 3-3 draw with Everton. Pep Guardiola’s side still have a game in hand on Arsenal, but they now trail their Premier League title rivals by five points.
Twenty-four hours later, Arsenal booked their place in a first Champions League final since 2006 (and only second in the club’s history) by beating Atletico Madrid 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium, sealing a 2-1 aggregate triumph.
All of which means that if Arsenal win their four remaining games this term, they will be both champions of England and kings of the continent. That would make this their greatest ever campaign.
For now, the Champions League can wait. Arsenal will be there for the showpiece event in Budapest on May 30. Until then, the Premier League has their full attention.
Manchester City play before Arsenal this weekend, so the gap at the top could be down to two points by the time this match gets under way.
That would mean a defeat for Arsenal at the London Stadium would suddenly hand control of the title race back to City again, so the margins remain fine for now.
West Ham United will not be short of motivation themselves. A 3-0 loss to Brentford last time out, together with Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 triumph over Aston Villa, has left Nuno Espirito Santo’s charges in the bottom three.
These two London clubs need a positive result on Sunday for very different reasons.
West Ham United vs Arsenal betting tips
A high-stakes London derby sees West Ham United take on Arsenal on Sunday.
Narrow away win?
Arsenal have renewed belief in the two-way title tussle.
The Gunners have more points to their name than Manchester City, as well as a better goal difference and an easier run-in (on paper at least).
This is a potential banana skin, though, with West Ham United in grave danger of dropping out of the Premier League. They will be fighting for their lives on Sunday.
Arsenal will not have everything their own way, but they should ultimately prove too strong for West Ham.

Slow burner in east London
Arsenal hit the ground running against Fulham last weekend, scoring three times without reply in the first half at the Emirates.
Arteta would love to see his team make a similarly fast start this weekend, but we anticipate a slow burner in east London.
Tuesday’s clash with Atletico Madrid will have taken a lot out of Arsenal, both mentally and physically.
On top of that, West Ham United will put up a stiffer fight than Fulham, whose squad was hit with a virus ahead of their trip to Arsenal. This match may only open up in the second period.

Saka to step up
Bukayo Saka is back with a bang. After scoring one goal and setting up another in the 3-0 defeat of Fulham, Saka was the match winner against Atletico Madrid.
This has not been the best season of Saka’s career overall, but he has looked back to his best in his last two appearances.
The 24-year-old is one of Arsenal’s most important players, and as their standout attacker the Gunners often look to Saka for inspiration in the final third.
The England international will be high on confidence after his recent exploits, which is bad news for West Ham United.
