‘Unspeakable tragedy’ – Seven PAOK fans killed and three in hospital after horror crash en route to Europa League match
Seven PAOK fans have tragically died in a minibus crash whilst they were travelling to the club’s next Europa League match.
A group of supporters were travelling through Romania en route to the match against Lyon in France, which will be played on Thursday night.

However, their minibus collided with a lorry and seven people have lost their lives, with another three reportedly hospitalised.
PAOK have released an emotional statement, which reads: “Time stops. It freezes. Words run dry. Pain pierces through body and mind. Tears stream from the eyes. Grief overwhelms you, brings you to your knees, shatters you.
“Another black day. Another unspeakable tragedy for the PAOK family. Farewell to our children, whose love for those four letters took them far away.
“That love for PAOK carried them there, left them there and moved on further, but their souls will forever rest under the wings of the Double-Headed Eagle.
“Our deepest condolences to the families of these children. In their unbearable pain, they will not be alone. The great PAOK family will always stand beside them to ease this pain as much as possible.
“Our thoughts are also with the injured, who are fighting their own battle.
“We will do everything possible so they receive the best medical care available, we will make sure they return home as quickly as possible, we will always be by their side. One wish only… Never again…”
As per the Associated Press, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said: “Deeply shaken, I was informed of the tragic accident in Romania that cost the lives of seven young compatriots.
“The Greek government and our embassy are in close coordination with the local authorities, providing every possible form of support.”
“In these difficult moments, together with all Greeks, I extend my sincerest condolences to the families of the victims and to the PAOK community,” he added.

“We all share the hope that the injured will recover quickly. Our thoughts are with them.”
Lyon also said: “Olympique Lyonnais extends its sincere condolences to PAOK following the tragic loss of several of its supporters in a road accident this Tuesday.
“Our thoughts are also with the injured who are currently fighting for their lives. A tribute will be paid during the OL – PAOK match on 29 January at Groupama Stadium.”
Lyon are top of the Europa League table and already through to the last 16.
PAOK are 12th and can finish in the top eight with a victory.
