Golden Knights’ Shea Theodore walks off Mammoth in Game 4 to even series

The Vegas Golden Knights lost to the Utah Mammoth in Game 3, putting them at a disadvantage heading into Monday night. The Mammoth had a 2-1 series lead and the home crowd behind them. It was a rocky game, but in the end, Shea Theodore helped Vegas come out on top.

The Golden Knights were pressing for the winning goal in overtime with less than a minute remaining in the period. Theodore glided into the slot, and a teammate behind the net found him with an incredible pass. The Vegas defenseman fired the puck on net and scored to give his team the win and to even the series 2-2.

This goal was a massive sigh of relief for the Golden Knights. Vegas thought they had won the game earlier in the period. Pavel Dorofeyev scored with 9:38 remaining in overtime. However, this goal was waved off due to offside on the play.

Theodore’s goal also helped the Golden Knights avoid an embarrassing loss. Vegas controlled this game from the outset. They raced out to a 3-0 lead in the second period. They also didn’t allow Utah to manage much pressure in the offensive zone.

However, the youthful Mammoth were not ready to roll over on home ice. Nick Schmaltz and Ian Cole scored about 30 seconds apart to turn the game on its head. Early in the third, Michael Carcone scored his first career playoff goal to tie the game.

Later on, Clayton Keller scored on a weird play in which the puck went off Theodore and in. This gave the Mammoth a 4-3 lead. Brett Howden would erase this lead with his second goal of the game at the 10:25 mark in the third.

The Mammoth and Golden Knights return to T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for Game 5 on Wednesday night.
