Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua new fight deal ‘agreed’ as planned details emerge

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have reagreed a blockbuster heavyweight showdown.

That is according to talkSPORT’s Gareth A Davies who revealed new information while in Dublin to watch the latest fight card at the weekend.

Fury and Joshua had agreed a deal to meet this summer, but the latter was involved in a car crash which killed two of his close friends in Nigeria in December.

It threw his boxing future up in the air and delayed his planned return in February or March, with the deal on ice.

But now after a period of recovery, Joshua is expected to return to training camp imminently and is expected to continue fighting.

He will first reportedly return in July in a comeback to blow away any cobwebs, having last fought against Jake Paul in the same month as the accident.

But it has now been revealed by Davies that a clash with the ‘Gypsy King’ has been agreed in principle again behind the scenes.

He said: “The Fury-Joshua fight is signed. Okay, it is signed in the background. I’ve got that on good authority.

“It’s with the big money people. It’ll be on Netflix. It’s agreed. They are moving towards it, but they both want the fight.

“It’s on the cards and it’s going to happen.”

He then suggested that the date being explored is currently fluid with the bout to take place either late this year or in early 2027.

The bout would be a blockbuster if it is on Netflix, given it still remains one of boxing’s biggest commercial fights.

But Joshua has an exclusive deal with DAZN and intricate details may still be need to ironed out.

Joshua vs Fury – will it happen?

Despite being towards the later stages of their careers, Fury and Joshua’s rivalry still remains one of the biggest unanswered questions in boxing.

The pair have huge followings particularly on British shores, and remain two of the high-selling superpowers around.

Fury had retired from boxing spelling a seeming end to a meeting with Joshua, but he will now return against Arslanbek Makhmudov on April 11.

That clash will be on Netflix and sets precedent for the streaming service to try to tap further into the blockbuster events in the squared circle.

Joshua has returned to light training in recent weeks including sparring, which has heightened chances of his return.

And his promoter Eddie Hearn indicated that he is now in a position to move back into a full camp and resume his plot to return to the top of the division in a final hoorah.
