Knicks wing Mikal Bridges’ NBA title presser is all about ‘f**k them picks’

The New York Knicks are officially NBA champions after defeating the San Antonio Spurs in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Saturday night. The Knicks will now gear up for the championship parade as the city celebrates its first title in 53 years.

Mikal Bridges had a solid night for the Knicks in Game 5, scoring 14 points on efficient shooting and once again playing elite defense on the other end of the floor.

After the game, Bridges referenced the viral “f*** them picks” meme that he has been associated with since his trade from the Brooklyn Nets two years ago.

The Knicks were widely criticized for giving up five first-round picks for Bridges back in 2024, and for a time, those criticisms seemed to be fully valid. In Game 3 of the first round against the Atlanta Hawks, Bridges followed up a missed potential game-winner in the previous contest with a goose egg, drawing mockery from around the NBA world in the process.

However, beginning later on in that series, Bridges started to round back into the best version of himself, becoming more aggressive on offense, continuing to play elite defense both on and off the ball, and knocking down the open looks that were generated by his teammates.

While five first round picks was still a lot to give up, there can be no denying that the trade paid off for the Knicks, who now have a Larry O’Brien Trophy to add to their collection for the first time in over five decades.

The Knicks and their fans will now prepare to celebrate even more in New York City for the parade on Thursday in Manhattan.
