Timberwolves fans will tear up seeing Karl-Anthony Towns celebrate Knicks’ NBA title with Anthony Edwards

The New York Knicks are NBA champions afte defeating the San Antonio Spurs, and some Minnesota Timberwolves fans could feel like they’re a part of the party. The reason for that is because of Karl-Anthony Towns, who had been with the team his entire career before getting traded to the Knicks last season. There’s no question that there’s no love lost between the two sides, and they’re probably just as excited for him as anything.

Another person who is super excited for Towns is Anthony Edwards, as they were basically best friends when they were on the Timberwolves and still share that brotherhood, regardless of whether they’re on separate teams. That’s why it’s no surprise that they were on a FaceTime call following Game 5.

The Timberwolves were able to reach the Western Conference Finals two seasons ago when Towns was still on the team, but they couldn’t get past the Dallas Mavericks. That led them to trade Towns to the Knicks for Julius Randle and Donte Divincenzo.

The Knicks then made it to the Eastern Conference Finals last year but lost to the Indiana Pacers, while the Timberwolves also made it back to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight season, but this time lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Many people will now say that the Knicks won the trade since they got the championship out of it, but it wasn’t that bad of a loss for the Timberwolves since they’ve been able to stay competitive since. They do have some questions to answer this offseason as they want to get over the hump, and that means going after a big fish in the market.

They’ve had interest in Giannis Antetokounmpo dating back to the trade deadline, but as it stands, it looks like the Miami Heat or Boston Celtics will win that bidding war.
