Timberwolves’ Donte DiVincenzo gets supportive message from ex-Knicks teammate Jalen Brunson
The Minnesota Timberwolves recently took an improbable 3-1 lead in their first round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets with a resounding Game 4 victory. Unfortunately, the Timberwolves did not make it through this game unscathed from an injury perspective, as both Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo exited the game with serious injuries.
DiVincenzo has since been ruled out for the year with a devastating Achilles tear, and now, the talented sharpshooter has gotten some words of support from his former New York Knicks and Villanova Wildcats teammate, Jalen Brunson.
“That’s my brother. Tough to see, but he’ll be back stronger,” said Brunson, per Knicks Videos on X, formerly Twitter.
DiVincenzo suffered the injury less than two minutes into Game 4 against the Nuggets when going after a loose ball, and it’s likely that most if not all of next season will be lost as well due to the incident.
The good news for DiVincenzo is that players seem to be recovering from Achilles injuries quicker than ever before, with Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum already looking like the peak version of himself less than a year after suffering the same injury in last year’s playoffs vs the Knicks.
Meanwhile, Edwards is also set to miss the rest of the series against the Nuggets, meaning that Minnesota will need more epic role player performances, like the 43 points they got from Ayo Dosunmu on Saturday in Game 4, in order to pick up their fourth win and close this series out.
Game 5 of Nuggets vs Timberwolves is slated to get underway on Monday evening back at the Ball Arena in Denver. Tipoff is set for 10:30 pm ET.
