Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards pays homage to ex-NFL WR over wild Ayo Dosunmu catch

The Minnesota Timberwolves kept their semifinal series with the San Antonio Spurs interesting as they won Game 4 114-109 to tie it 2-2. Anthony Edwards scored 36 points and also had six rebounds and two assists after Victor Wembanyama was ejected early in the second quarter.

As one would expect, ANT was in great spirits post-game, even comparing an Ayo Dosunmu catch to former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, per a post on X by ClutchPoints. White, who played for the Falcons from 2005-2015, was known to pluck out spectacular catches out of thin air.

“Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons,” he said.

With 13.1 seconds left on the clock, Edwards threw the ball to Dosunmu across the court, who grabbed it after the ball hit his foot. Of course, it was only one of the notable moments that helped the Timberwolves see off the game.

Edwards scored 16 of his 36 points in the final quarter, including 14 of his team’s first 18 in the final period. Minnesota once again made use of Wemby’s absence, who was ejected for throwing an elbow at Naz Reid.  All five of Minnesota starters scored in double digits, with Reid himself adding 15 points off the bench alongside nine rebounds and four assists. Regardless, the game still remained close right till the end.

De’Aaron Fox led the Spurs in scoring, returning with 24 points, four rebounds and three assists off just 8-23 shooting. He was supported by Stephon Castle, who had 20 points, six rebounds and four assists on the night.

Rookie Dylan Harper added 24 points and six rebounds off the bench, although the game belonged to ANT. The 36-point performance marked his 18th playoff game with at least 30 points, with the series now set to reset for Game 5 in San Antonio. The Spurs, meanwhile, will be hoping that Wembanyama does not receive a suspension and returns to the lineup for the next match.
