Thomas Frank gives death stare to interviewer and West Ham favourite can’t help but laugh at axed Tottenham boss

Thomas Frank had a face like thunder in his last post-match interview as Tottenham boss.

Spurs find themselves staring down the barrel of a relegation battle after losing 2-1 to Newcastle on Tuesday night.

The north Londoners sit 16th and just five points clear of the bottom three with 12 games remaining.

There was a chorus of boos from Spurs fans at the full-time whistle as their season took another blow with an 11th league defeat.

Frank, who succeeded Ange Postecoglou in the summer, was sacked at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium early on Wednesday morning following their 11th league loss of the season.

Prior to the confirmation of his departure, a reporter addressed Frank’s uncertain future after yet another defeat.

Spurs, who are already out of the FA Cup, now have time off to work out their next managerial move before they host north London rivals Arsenal on Sunday, February 22. https://twitter.com/footballontnt/status/2021363684367532061?s=20

Following their defeat to Newcastle, a reporter asked Frank: “If you could give one message, I suppose, to the Spurs supporters who would like somebody different in your position come Arsenal, what would it be?”

“That’s a fair question,” Frank replied with a slight grin. “I would just say what I do is work very hard, make sure we do everything we can to put a competitive team out there that’s ready to fight.”

However, Frank appeared to stare down the interviewer at the end of their exchange and they then shared an awkward handshake.

Reacting to the tension, former West Ham striker Michail Antonio was left in stitches with the Dane’s facial expression.

“It’s a man under pressure, but I just feel like it was the questioning, to me,” he said. “I felt like Dan was proper prodding him there and I could see it, inside he was boiling up.

“He didn’t want to answer the question, he just wanted to get off, and it was just constant questions about him and his job.

“The look in his face was like… basically, if I could swear right now, is what he was basically saying to him.

“Tottenham are in a bad place. If West Ham won today, they would be three points behind Tottenham…

“So it could easily be a relegation scrap for them because at the end of the day, West Ham are performing, West Ham are doing well.”

Antonio then saw footage of the fans booing, and added: “The fans are not happy, and the fans haven’t been happy for a while.”

Tottenham cut ties with Frank on Wednesday morning, saying in a statement: “The Club has taken the decision to make a change in the Men’s Head Coach position and Thomas Frank will leave today.

“Thomas was appointed in June 2025, and we have been determined to give him the time and support needed to build for the future together.

“However, results and performances have led the Board to conclude that a change at this point in the season is necessary.

“Throughout his time at the Club, Thomas has conducted himself with unwavering commitment, giving everything in his efforts to move the Club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”

Tottenham are not in action this weekend having lost in the FA Cup third round and next host Arsenal in the Premier League next Sunday.

They then face back-to-back London derbies against Fulham and Crystal Palace at the start of March before a daunting trip to Liverpool on March 15.
