The origin of Taylor Swift viral ‘Stevie Knicks’ shirt revealed

Taylor Swift knows how to make a viral moment.

The pop star went viral for her appearance at Game 4 of the NBA Finals when she was seen sporting a “Stevie Knicks” shirt as she rooted for the New York Knicks as they faced the San Antonio Spurs. The singer rocked the shirt that references her friend and the NBA team alongside jeans, her hair in a braided ponytail, and her signature red lipstick.

Fans couldn’t get enough of Swift’s custom shirt, which was worn by her friends who attended the game with her. Alana Haim who sat courtside with her sisters Este, Danielle, and Swift, told Vogue that she is the creator behind the viral shirts. She shared that she made the shirts by using $2.99 shirts from Michaels and a Cricut.

“I love making shirts for my friends; I have my friends come over all the time, and I’m like, Do you want to make shirts?” Alana told Vogue.

While Este, Swift, and Alana wore the “Stevie Knicks” edition of the shirt, Danielle also wore the “Knickolas Cage,” edition of the shirt.

Alana also shared with the outlet that Swift was the one who came up with the pun that honored Stevie Nicks.

“‘I want to wear this shirt to the game, can you make it for me?’ Swift asked Alana according told the outlet.

Alana responded to Swift, “‘I thought you would never ask, this is my dream.”

Swift and the Haim sisters weren’t alone in their celeb-inspired Knicks shirts as Mariska Hargitay also was spotted wearing one courtside.

“I always bring extras, and Taylor really wanted to bring extras so we could give them to friends. And Mariska was so down; she’s such an amazing human being, and I’m such a big fan of her, so the fact that she also wanted to wear one of my shirts was insane,” Alana added.

With an epic 106-107 win in Game 4, the Knicks are now on their way to Game 5 in San Antonio on Saturday, June 13 where they are one win away from bringing a NBA Championship back to New York.
