The 6-foot-7 freak poised to make LSU Lane Kiffin a happy man in 2026
HC Lane Kiffin’s arrival at LSU football has sparked a complete culture shift, including a renewed focus on the physical fitness of his coaching staff. Kiffin recently announced an initiative aimed at getting his assistants into peak condition, humorously noting that the wives of his staff have reached out to thank him for prioritizing their health.
Legendary assistant Tee Martin is currently three weeks into this physical transformation.
This emphasis on a fresh start comes after a mediocre 7-6 season in 2025 under Brian Kelly, which ended with a disappointing defensive performance in the Texas Bowl.
As Kiffin aims to revitalize the program, there is considerable excitement surrounding a player already on the roster who is expected to have a breakout year in 2026.
According to a report by The New York Times, the coaching staff is particularly enthusiastic about tight end Trey’Dez Green.
Standing at an impressive 6-foot-7 with an exceptional wingspan, Green has amazed assistants with his agility.

One staff member remarked that despite his large size, Green “runs like a wideout” and demonstrates remarkable nimbleness in and out of his breaks.
After finishing last season with 430 yards and seven touchdowns, his versatility as both a receiver and an in-line blocker makes him a unique asset for an offense that struggled to generate big plays last year, and while transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt is recovering from surgery, USC transfer Husan Longstreet and a revamped group of nine transfer receivers are gearing up to enhance the passing game alongside this “freak” athlete.
The positive momentum in Baton Rouge is also translating into success on the recruiting trail.
LSU recently secured a commitment from four-star wide receiver Ah’Mari Stevens, who flipped from the Miami Hurricanes following a high-impact official visit.
Known for his elite speed and consistent performance at Chaminade-Madonna Prep, Stevens adds a polished skill set to the Tigers’ 2027 recruiting class.
By landing Stevens, Kiffin and his staff have further strengthened a program clearly focused on a long-term resurgence in the SEC.
