Bet of the Day – Newcastle to beat Manchester United @ 29/20

Newcastle were disappointing when losing 3-2 to Everton on Saturday, but there is enough in the recent performances of Eddie Howe’s men to forgive that St James’ Park defeat.

The Toon Army had previously destroyed Qarabag in the Champions League playoff, won 3-1 at Aston Villa in the FA Cup, downed Tottenham in north London and played with plenty of credit in a narrow 2-1 loss against Manchester City.

Newcastle have lost only four of their last 19 games at St James’ Park, and while Manchester United have been in good form, the Magpies are likely to prove tough to beat.

United turned around a 1-0 deficit to get the better of Crystal Palace at the weekend, but Maxence Lacroix’s red card turned the tie in favour of the Red Devils. Michael Carrick’s men have scored only four goals in their last three Premier League games and they may struggle to make an impact at Newcastle.

Aston Villa vs Chelsea – Under 2.5 goals @ 23/20

There’s an interesting contest at Villa Park on Wednesday night when Champions League hopefuls Aston Villa host Chelsea.

Villa have won only one of their last six matches and the Villans were extremely disappointing when losing 2-0 at Wolves on Friday night.

Unai Emery’s men have hit only 11 shots on target in their last four matches and that lack of attacking output is a huge concern. However, Chelsea have been successful in only two of their last six games and those victories have come against Wolves and Hull.

The west Londoners hit only three shots on target in a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal on Sunday and it was only two in a 1-1 Stamford Bridge draw with Burnley previously.

Backing under 2.5 goals pays 23/20.

Acca – West Ham to beat Fulham, Over 2.5 goals in Manchester City v Nottingham Forest, Over 2.5 goals in Brighton v Arsenal @ 9/1

West Ham can take a massive step towards safety by winning at Fulham. Some poor defending saw the Hammers nailed 5-2 at Liverpool at the weekend, but the performance level of the Irons was high in that contest and it’s only two defeats in nine games for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.

Manchester City have scored 24 goals in their seven matches at the Etihad and City continue to chase Arsenal at the top of the Premier League. Nottingham Forest have seen five of their last seven games go over 2.5 and this contest should provide plenty of entertainment.

There have been 16 goals in Arsenal’s last four games and it hasn’t been all one-way traffic for the Gunners, who have conceded in games against Chelsea, Tottenham and Wolves.

Brighton will not alter their front-foot approach and there were 27 efforts on goal in the Seagulls’ 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest last time out. The Amex tie looks like another overs play.
