Bet of the Day – Arsenal to win and over 2.5 goals @ 29/20

Arsenal hold a 3-2 lead over Chelsea following their League Cup semi-final first-leg success at Stamford Bridge and that sets up a dangerous tie for the Blues.

The Gunners have copped some criticism for their perceived reliance on set-plays this season and the 3-2 Premier League loss to Manchester United opened more questions regarding the title credentials of the north Londoners.

However, Arsenal went a good way to answering those doubts when winning 4-0 at Leeds last weekend, meaning they have now scored 26 goals in their last 10 games.

Mikel Arteta has built a strong, dangerous and disciplined team and that spells bad news for Chelsea, who will have to chase a result at the Emirates after their first-leg loss.

The Blues have conceded 11 goals in their last eight games and haven’t kept a clean sheet on any of their last eight away days.

Liam Rosenior started Malo Gusto, Benoit Badiashile, Trevoh Chalobah and Jorrel Hato against West Ham on Saturday, but is likely to change things up at the Emirates, given the Hammers were 2-0 up at the break. However, Chelsea have regularly demonstrated they lack the defensive solidity to keep a top-level Arsenal side at bay, regardless of personnel.

Playing an Arsenal victory and over 2.5 goals rates the best bet on Tuesday night’s action.

Hearts continue to set the pace at the top of the Scottish Premiership and there is no sign of them letting up.

The Jambos crushed Dundee United 3-0 at Tannadice on Saturday, and while Derek McInnes’ men were helped by red cards to Amar Fatah and Panutche Camara, Hearts were already 1-0 up before Fatah was dismissed in the first half.

The Jambos struck 22 shots with 12 of those on target and created an expected goals number of 4.89 at Tannadice and that followed an excellent performance when drawing 2-2 with champions Celtic.

St Mirren have gone seven league matches without a win and that opens the door to getting with Hearts in a bet builder. Play a Hearts win, Hearts-Hearts on the half time/full time and over 2.5 goals at a juicy 33/10.

Longshot of the Day – Barnet to beat Crewe, Swindon to beat Harrogate, Notts County to beat Gillingham treble @ 10/1

Barnet recorded 77 per cent possession, hit 18 shots and won six corners, but somehow failed to break down Shrewsbury in a 0-0 League Two draw on Saturday. However, the Bees remain one of the best performing teams in the fourth tier and they can bounce back by completing the double over Crewe, having won 3-2 at Gresty Road earlier in the season.

Swindon snapped a four-game losing run with an excellent 3-1 win over Barrow last weekend and the Robins can strike again at Harrogate. The Sulphurites have lost 10 of their last 12 matches and offered little in a 2-0 loss at Crawley last time out.

Notts County have got their promotion push back on track, reeling off four straight wins to climb to fifth, only two points behind Cambridge United in second.

The Magpies have won eight of their 14 home games in the league this season, losing only three times, and they can maintain the pressure at the top with a win over Gillingham, who were thrashed 4-1 by Bromley at the weekend and have won only two of their last 13 games.
