Thursday football tips
Bet of the Day – Salford to win & BTTS @ 7/2
Salford arrive at Accrington in excellent form, having won five of their last six matches and coming out on top in their last four away games. The only defeat they have suffered this year came at home to Chesterfield, a match they dominated but ultimately threw away after conceding an own goal in stoppage time.
They have put themselves in a strong position to challenge for the league title, or at least automatic promotion, but face a decent test in Accrington Stanley.
The Reds have found some form in recent weeks, winning their last two matches in impressive fashion, beating Newport 4-1 and Cheltenham 3-1. Both sides sit towards the lower end of League Two, but performances like that will give Accrington confidence against stronger opposition.
Salford have conceded in four of their last five away matches, and Accrington have been prolific in front of goal of late. However, Salford’s recent form is hard to ignore. Having beaten Accrington 2-1 earlier in the season, a similar outcome could be on the cards here, with Salford to win and both teams scoring.
Bet Builder – Strasbourg vs Monaco BTTS, Joaquin Panichelli to score, over 7.5 corners 29/10
Strasbourg host Monaco in the last 16 of the Coupe de France, with both sides cruising past weaker opposition in the previous round before being drawn together in one of the standout ties. Their last meeting ended in a 3-2 win for Monaco, and another open contest looks likely, with both teams expected to get on the scoresheet again.
Joaquin Panichelli was on target from the penalty spot in that game and has been in fine form recently, scoring in three of his last five appearances, so he looks capable of finding the net once more.
Their most recent meeting produced 11 corners, and a similar total could be on the cards here, making over 7.5 corners a sensible selection.
Accumulator – BTTS in Strasbourg vs Monaco, Salford to win, Atletico Madrid to win, and over 3.5 goals in Sporting Lisbon vs Deportivo Aves. 21/2
Strasbourg host Monaco in the round of 16 of the Coupe de France. The two sides played out a five-goal thriller earlier in the season, with Monaco edging a 3-2 win. Both teams look evenly matched and this should be a competitive tie, with both sides expected to score.
Salford have been in fantastic form, winning five of their last six matches and arriving on a run of four consecutive away wins. They face an Accrington side who could prove tricky, but Salford’s extra quality should ultimately tell.
Atletico Madrid travel to Real Betis for their Copa del Rey tie. The Red and Whites have already beaten Betis away from home in La Liga with a comfortable 2-0 victory, and they should have enough to progress again here.
Sporting Lisbon host Deportivo Aves in the Portuguese Cup. They thrashed them 6-0 in the league in December, and another heavy defeat could be on the cards, with Aves conceding an average of 2.5 goals per game. Over 3.5 goals looks the play.
