Rohit Sharma said that India winning the T20 World Cup is just the beginning of a special time for the Men in Blue in the sport. The former India captain opined that the Asian giants will continue dominating other teams in the years to come.

The Indian women's team also made the nation proud when they lifted the ODI World Cup for the very first time last year at home. Rohit manifested that both the men's and women's teams would bring more glory to the country in the times to come.

“I feel very, very happy and proud to see what we've been seeing for the last couple of years now to come out with flying colours and achieve what we have achieved,” Rohit said at the launch of the T20 Mumbai League Season 4 in Mumbai on Saturday, March 14.

“Not just men's team but also women's team to win that World Cup in Mumbai was fantastic to watch, And recently now what the men's team did to win the T20 World Cup, what they did was phenomenal," he added.

Rohit, who led India to the T20 World Cup title in 2024, said that both the men's and women's teams have what it takes to rule world cricket in the years to come.

“And I hope this is just the start, there's no looking back from here because once you get the momentum — and we often talk about momentum in cricket — both men's and women's teams have it, and all I hope is that we carry this momentum," the Indian opener said.

India had to wait for 11 years to win an ICC title after the Champions Trophy triumph in 2013. However, once Rohit led India to the T20 World Cup title in 2024, the Men in Blue dominated all the white-ball ICC events that have followed. Last year, they lifted the Champions Trophy in the United Arab Emirates. Last week, they became the first team to win three T20 World Cup titles.

Meanwhile, the women's team has also shown a lot of promise. They recently defeated Australia 2-1 in a T20I series Down Under, which is a fantastic result for Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. heading into the Women's T20 World Cup later this year.
