Steelers QB drops two-word reaction after Pittsburgh legend eviscerates Ben Roethlisberger: ‘Not a good person’
Ben Roethlisberger is one of the best quarterbacks in Pittsburgh Steelers history and won two Super Bowls with the franchise.
But that doesn’t mean that ‘Big Ben’ was universally loved by his teammates during his 18-year career.

Which Steelers have problems with Big Ben?
One current Pittsburgh quarterback has backed up the fiery comments of former Steelers linebacker Joey Porter Sr., who spent eight years with the team as a player and later returned to the organization as an assistant coach.
“Go off @jportersr55,” posted an account belonging to current Steelers QB Mason Rudolph.
Rudolph was drafted by Pittsburgh in the third round in 2018 and has played in 26 games (14 starts) for the team, returning to the Steelers after a one-year stop in Tennessee.
While Pittsburgh has just entered its offseason, Rudolph ended the 2025 campaign second on the Steelers’ depth chart behind veteran and expected future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.
That leads even more credence to Rudolph’s ‘Go off’ comment, which saw him seemingly applaud Porter for hammering Roethlisberger’s reputation among current and ex-Steelers players.
“(Roethlisberger) definitely broke the brotherhood,” the often outspoken Porter said on the Not Just Football podcast.
“Out of anybody that should talk, he should never grab a microphone and really talk Steeler business. Because if we talk Steelers business, his a** is foul of all foul. The s*** that he did is foul of all foul. He’s not a good teammate.
“Won the Super Bowl with him, but the person, he’s just not a good teammate. He knows that. Anybody in the Steelers building knows that, but we protected him because I’ve only won one Super Bowl and that was my quarterback. So do I love my quarterback? Yeah, but is he a good person? No.”
Ex-Steeler goes after teammates
Porter also took a shot at former Pittsburgh teammate James Harrison, who made five Pro Bowls and won two Super Bowls during a 15-year career that featured 14 seasons with the black and gold.
“(Harrison) broke the brotherhood,” Porter said.

But it was Big Ben who received the most heat from his old teammate.
“He was telling people, ‘No, I’m not going to sign that,’ ” said Porter, recalling when Roethlisberger declined to autograph memorabilia for teammates’ families in the Steelers’ locker room.
“So once he did that, who they come and tell? The captain. When he first did it to Chris Hoke, I was like, ‘Damn, that’s messed up, man.’ I grabbed it from Hoke, took it over there and told him to sign it. But then when he did that to Aaron Smith, now I got to have a meeting (with Roethlisberger). Like, you’re a rookie, you’re a young guy.
“You can’t tell my vets you’re too cool to sign for my vets. Who the hell is too cool to sign for your teammate? I’m not a fan.”
Big Ben has also criticized Steelers
Roethlisberger has remained in the spotlight among Steelers fans and previously said that longtime head coach Mike Tomlin should be fired while the team cleaned house.
The Super Bowl-winning QB later walked back his comments but Tomlin parted ways with the franchise in January after 19 seasons.

Former Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown made seven Pro Bowls and caught 74 touchdowns during his Pittsburgh days.
The controversial Brown took up for his old QB in a post.
“Big Ben a great teammate one the best one to have!” Brown tweeted.
“You got to earn his respect before he open up coming in talking won’t get his attention! take it from a six round draft pick.”
Roethlisberger will appear on the Pro Football Hall of Fame ballot for the first time in 2027.
Personal relationships and related issues might have derailed Bill Belichick‘s Hall of Fame candidacy this year, as the six-time Super Bowl-winning New England Patriots coach didn’t make the cut.
Roethlisberger is now facing a backlash from a former teammate, while Rudolph also appears to be down on Big Ben.
