Spurs vs. Thunder 2026 NBA Western Conference Finals Game 7 prediction, odds, pick

The 2025 NBA Western Conference Finals can’t get much bigger than this as we’re back with a prediction and pick for this all-or-nothing Game 7. The San Antonio Spurs visit the Oklahoma City Thunder, series tied 3-3 with a trip to the NBA Finals on the line. Check our NBA Playoffs odds series for the Spurs-Thunder prediction and pick.

The Spurs beat the Thunder in Game 6 118-91 on their home floor to force a Game 7 back in Oklahoma City. The Spurs’ defense was the story of the game as they held OKC to just 37% from the field and under 100 points for the second time. The recipe is clear if they want to knock off the defending champion and exact their Finals goals.

The Thunder, however, are 6-1 at home during these 2026 NBA Playoffs and MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is 2-1 over his career in Game 7’s. They were expected to be in this spot all season, but they’ll need to overcome their toughest test in fending the Spurs off at home.

Keys to Spurs vs. Thunder Matchup

Considering the competitive nature between these two teams, it was almost destined for fans to get a full seven-game series for what has grown into the league’s most exciting rivalry. The Spurs swung back with a resounding defensive performance as Victor Wembanyama scored a game-high 28 points while adding three blocks. Stephon Castle was big with 17 points and nine assists, but his intensity and vocal nature during the game is what really motivated the Spurs to keep the lead.

The Spurs now know that it’ll take a full 48 minutes of intense defense to knock the Thunder off. While they can only do so much in slowing down Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the defensive ability of Wembanyama to alter a shooter’s decision-making has really given OKC issues this season. Now, the Spurs must focus on one more closeout performance in forcing the rest of the Thunder squad to also struggle from the field and take away their confidence from three.

Still, we can’t expect the Thunder to shoot under 40% in back-to-back games as they should see an immediate rhythm when playing back at home. SGA will be much more aggressive in driving the lane and he’ll be forcing the officials to make tough decisions all game. They average 23.3 FT attempts per game all season, but only saw 12 attempts in Game 6. Unless the Spurs can continue playing spotless defense like they did, expect OKC to be much more active from the line in Game 7.

The Thunder have been missing Chet Holmgren in this series as he’s averaging just 11.8 PPG against the Spurs this series. Isaiah Hartenstein hasn’t been much more impactful with 10.3 PPG against San Antonio, so they’ll need either of their big men to step up in this situation and offer some sort of resistance for Wembanyama.

Spurs vs. Thunder Game 7 Prediction and Pick

The Thunder are the rightful favorites in this Game 7 at home and it wasn’t all too surprising to see the Spurs win Game 6 on their own floor. However, what was most impressive was the Spurs’ intensity, their tough-nosed defense, and the discipline to not allow Oklahoma City to beat them from the free-throw line.

Still, we should see a much improved game out of the Thunder as they’re bound to increase their 37% FG and 12 total FT attempts in Game 6. Expect Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to be very aggressive early in driving the paint and constantly looking for Chet Holmgren on the roll-lob they’ve done so many times this postseason.

However, the intensity Wembanyama, Devin Vassell, and Stephon Castle brought in Game 6 will likely be replicated in Game 7 and it’s hard to imagine the Spurs not trying to play their hardest defensive game of the season. For our final prediction, we’re going to roll with the San Antonio Spurs to cover the spread. We’ll also side with the over as a game this close can easily extend into overtime.

Final Spurs-Thunder Game 7 Prediction & Pick: San Antonio Spurs +3.5 (-108); OVER 212.5 (-110)
