Sparks’ Cameron Brink reveals why blocking shots is the ‘best feeling in the world’
The Los Angeles Sparks are building their future around toughness, length, and defensive intimidation. Cameron Brink is proudly embracing all three. As the Sparks continue shaping their core, Brink made it clear that her greatest joy on the basketball court has nothing to do with scoring.
“It’s the best feeling in the world,” Brink said recently when discussing shot-blocking, a craft she has quickly turned into her trademark.
For Brink, rejecting shots is more than a stat-padding exercise. It is a psychological weapon that changes momentum instantly. Brink admitted she simply “LOVES” denying opponents at the rim, feeding off the emotional swing created by erasing scoring opportunities.

That mindset perfectly aligns with the “Killa Cam” identity Sparks fans rallied behind during her debut campaign. Even before injury interrupted her rise, Brink had already established herself as one of the league’s premier rim deterrents.
For the Sparks, Brink’s passion for defense has become contagious. Her ability to anchor the paint gives Los Angeles a foundational piece capable of transforming the team into a true “no-fly zone.”
Selected second overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Brink immediately showcased elite defensive instincts. She averaged 2.3 blocks along with 7.5 points and 5.3 rebounds across her first 15 professional games. Unfortunately, her rookie season ended abruptly after suffering a torn ACL and meniscus in June 2024. After a demanding 13-month recovery, Brink returned late in the 2025. Now fully healthy entering 2026, Brink is focused on refining her discipline, minimizing fouls, and evolving into a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate for Los Angeles.
