Simmons is one of the oddest stories in NBA history. He was once a top-tier talent with the Philadelphia 76ers, but he gradually regressed into total irrelevance.

Since last year, he has shifted his focus to fishing, a hobby he has cherished since his childhood in Australia. Simmons even joined a professional fishing team in December.

But of course, the mean seas of the internet will make fun of everything, and someone made a compilation video of Simmons’ fishing highlights, as posted by Barstool Sports.

Let’s just say Simmons was not fishing for compliments.

As expected, fans took the bait and shared their thoughts.

“Just another example of how he’s right-handed, LMAO. So crazy to me that he shot with the wrong hand his whole life,” said @jeffmckinnon93.

Fishing can be a meditative experience, and perhaps, it allows the 29-year-old Simmons to feel at peace with what happened to his once-bright career.

Simmons, a three-time All-Star, has not played since the first round of the playoffs in 2025 between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Denver Nuggets.
