Sheffield Wednesday set another unwanted club record and are closing in on historic EFL one
Sheffield Wednesday set another unwanted club record on Sunday afternoon as they failed to score for the ninth Championship game running.
The Owls, who now haven’t scored in their last ten across all competitions, crashed to a 4-0 defeat at Swansea to compound what’s been an absolutely disastrous season.

The Yorkshire side were docked 12 points in October after being placed into administration by former owner Dejphon Chansiri.
Chansiri himself has also been banned from being an owner or director of an EFL club for a period of three years.
Wednesday were then docked a further six points in December, with the club doomed for relegation as they sit 39 points from safety with 15 games to play.
Goal drought
And Sunday’s dire showing at the Swansea.com Stadium means the club haven’t scored a league goal since Bailey Cadamarteri’s strike on the hour mark in their 2-2 draw with Hull on Boxing Day as they fell to an eighth successive league defeat.
Following the loss to Swansea, Owls boss Henrik Pedersen said: “The last two days we have had two really good training sessions.
“We changed to a back four to get one man higher up in the press to see if we can win balls higher up the pitch and also have an extra man in the offensive transition.
“We saw a positive energy in the first 19 minutes. We had good pressing situations, good sequences on the ball.
“Then they score the goal, they played through us, and we also have to say Swansea is a fantastic team.
“After the goal they got more confident on the ball and started to move us around.
“We wanted to be compact but it was difficult for us. It was tough to press really tight against them.

“Second half we came out with a good energy and started to win balls high up the pitch, but we also lost balls.
“The biggest challenge today was that when we won the ball we also lost the ball.
“We didn’t create what we wanted.”
Owls closing in on unwanted record
Next up for Wednesday is the welcome of playoff-chasing Millwall next weekend.
And the Owls could make it 11 league games without a goal when they face rivals Sheffield United later this month.
Failure to score in both games would see Wednesday match Cheltenham’s 11-game goalless record set in 2023.

The Robins didn’t score in their opening 11 matches of the 2023/24 League One season, eventually breaking their duck when Rob Street struck the opening goal in an eventual 1-1 draw with Derby.
Cheltenham to their credit came close to beating the drop that season, finishing just two points behind 20th-placed Burton.
