Seattle Seahawks vs San Francisco 49ers odds, predictions, and betting tips – 49ers decimated by injuries

After taking down the No. 3 seed in the NFC, the Philadelphia Eagles, the No. 6-seeded San Francisco 49ers remain on the road to take on their division rival and No. 1 seed in the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks.

These teams met in Week 18, and the Seahawks won the game 13-3.

Let’s check out this NFC Divisional Round edition of the NFL in more detail below.

Seahawks vs 49ers best bets

The 49ers head into this game after losing to the Seahawks in Week 18, but after going on the road and taking care of the Eagles, 23-19. Quarterback Brock Purdy completed 18 of 31 passes for 262 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.

The 49ers have dealt with several injuries this season, and the latest was tight end George Kittle, who tore his Achilles.

Defensively, the 49ers surrendered 168 passing yards to Jalen Hurts and 140 rushing yards, including 26 carries for 106 yards to Saquon Barkley.

There is something else to monitor for this game: Linebacker Fred Warner was limited in practice, but I cannot imagine he plays. He dislocated his ankle just over three months ago. That would be absurd if he played, so I’ll believe it when I see it.

As for the Seahawks, they had a Wild Card round bye, which is always nice to have, allowing players to rest up. The only Seahawks players who have yet to practice this week are linebacker Ernest Jones (illness) and offensive tackle Josh Jones (knee).

They last played in Week 18, and, as mentioned, the Seahawks won 13-3. In Week 1, the 49ers beat the Seahawks 17-13.

Seahawks vs 49ers preview

The 49ers put up just three points in their Week 18 loss to the Seahawks, and while I admire their resilience, the injuries are just too numerous.

That’s the case here, especially with Kittle out.

The Seahawks are second in the NFL in pressures with 277, and they also play plenty of zone, specifically Cover-3 and Cover-6.

That’s important because Purdy has struggled against those this season, throwing five touchdowns and seven interceptions.

But it gets even worse without Kittle on the field; Purdy has just one touchdown pass all season against Cover-3 and Cover-6 when Kittle isn’t on the field.

The 49ers are in for a rough afternoon. The injuries are just too much at this point.

SpreadOdds
Seattle Seahawks -722/25
San Francisco 49ers +710/11
Total pointsOdds
Over 4510/11
Under 4522/25

Given the injuries, this spread makes sense. Yes, it’s high for a Divisional Round matchup, but these just met two weeks ago, and the 49ers put up three points. Now, they head into this one without Kittle. It’s going to be difficult for them.

Kyle Juszczyk under 15.5 receiving yards

Juszczyk caught four passes for 49 yards in the Wild Card round, but let’s be honest, as a fullback, relying on receiving production is shaky at best. Also, 27 of those 49 yards came on one pass.

Without Kittle on the field, Juszczyk has just a 6% target share, which is eighth on the team, catching 16 of 17 passes for 139 yards.

Also, he’s finished with 15 yards or fewer in 12 games this season, including in Week 18 against the Seahawks, catching just one pass for five yards.

Take the under.

🏈 Tip Kyle Juszczyk to have 15 receiving yards or fewer against the Seahawks at 22/25 with BetMGM 🏈

Christian McCaffrey 6+ receptions

McCaffrey caught six passes for 66 yards last week against the Eagles, and without Kittle on the field, he’s going to be a favourite target of Purdy.

When Kittle isn’t on the field, McCaffrey’s target share is at 25.1%, which leads the team.

He caught six passes in Week 18 against them and, way back in Week 1, nine.

This season, he’s recorded six or more receptions in 12 games, including the Wild Card round.

They’ll get him heavily involved.

🏈 Back Christian McCaffrey to have 6 receptions or more against the Seahawks at 4/7 with BetMGM 🏈

Sam Darnold under 1.5 passing TDs

In two starts against the 49ers this season, Darnold hasn’t thrown a single touchdown or interception. He’s combined for 348 passing yards.

Not only that, but he’s thrown one touchdown or fewer in three of his last four games and in nine of 17 games this season.

This game is going to be won on the ground, with efficient passing from Darnold, and their defence. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lower-scoring game, which won’t require much from Darnold.

Take the under.

🏈 Tip Sam Darnold to have 1 passing touchdown or fewer against the 49ers at 17/20 with BetMGM 🏈
