Sean McVay unleashes 242-pound secret weapon on Bears after brutal Rams decision
The Los Angeles Rams found that big problems sometimes require an even bigger solution.
Joshua Karty was statistically the worst kicker in the NFL, having missed eight kicks going into a Week 10 showdown with the San Francisco 49ers.

Head coach Sean McVay made a change after two missed efforts worth four points in a blowout win over the New Orleans Saints and brought in 242-pound specialist Harrison Mevis.
The Rams were 6-2, but McVay took decisive action and turned to Missouri football’s all-time points leader.
Harrison Mevis impressive in Rams’ Super Bowl run
Nicknamed the ‘Thiccer Kicker’ thanks to his 6ft, 242-pound frame, Mevis was waived by the Jets in September.
The former Tiger broke the SEC record with a 61-yard walk-off field goal against Kansas State in September 2023 and his 405 points are the most in Mizzou history, but he went undrafted in 2024.
Mevis lost out to Eddy Pineiro in a battle for the Carolina Panthers job in 2024.
He starred in the United Football League with the Birmingham Stallions, hitting 20 of 21 field goals and finishing second in the spring league for conversion percentage behind former Indianapolis Colts cult hero Rodrigo Blankenship.
That earned him a shot with the Jets but Nick Folk won the job. The Gang Green starter is 17 of 17 with a long of 58 yards this season.
Mevis went 86 of 103 in Mizzou, including a program record 12 50-plus yard makes.
His incredible nickname earned him several NIL deals, including a burger named in his honor at Campus Bar and Grill in downtown Columbia.
Mevis went 12-of-13 on field goals and drilled all 39 of his extra point attempts in the regular season as the Rams finished 12-5.

He was perfect in the 34-30 Wild Card victory over the Panthers, contributing 10 points.
Up next is Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears in a trick assignment at Soldier Field as the race for Super Bowl LX continues.
Bears counterpart Cairo Santos has warned that the conditions at the 102-year-old arena will punish any mistakes.
The forecast is cold and windy in Chicago and Mevis has been kicking in a dome in sunny California for much of his career as an NFL starter.
Thankfully, he grew up in Northern Indiana — not far from Soldier Field.
“I’ve kinda been in that situation quite a bit,” he said via The Sun. “Shoot, it’s backyard football.”
