Saturday horse racing tips

  • NEWBURY
    1.15: Kocktail Bleu 6/5 (1pt)
    3.00: Charisma Cat 7/1 each-way (1pt)
  • KELSO
    2.10: Khrisma 6/4 (1pt)

Kocktail Bleu

This looks like it could be a match up between Kocktail Bleu and Gambino with a potential of Lisbane Park in third or making an improved effort in 2nd behind one these.

Gambino is unexposed over hurdles having yet to make his debut, but the gelding by Churchill has put in some promising performances to suggest he could be worth backing in.

He’s put in three placed efforts on the flat including when third behind Constitution Hill at Southwell last month.

Was entered for his hurdle debut in January but was a non-runner due to a bruised foot.

That race was won by Baron Noir, who beat Kocktail Bleu quite comfortably by just two and a half lengths.

Since then Kocktail Bleu has made another two runs over hurdles, each ending in a second place finish.

But was a strong second last time out in the Grade 2 Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle, only beaten by three lengths when 11/1.

And it’s going to be very tough for a hurdle debutant to beat this Grade 2 runner.

Charisma Cat

Will have to win off top-weight but this mare clearly has the form to do so and is a solid each-way chance at 7/1, a price that could deteriorate in the morning or leading up to the off on Saturday afternoon.

Bumped into the promising Khrisma latest which came soon after a solid win at Chepstow.

No mistakes to shout about last time either, certainly progressing and might have something to say in this race, if just for placing in the top four or five.

Khrisma

Beat Charisma Cat as the 6/5 favourite at Market Rasen last time out and looks a great prospect for JP McManus and trainer Nicky Henderson.

This mare has now won two and placed second twice in her five hurdle starts and can certainly keep progressing for the in-form team of trainer, owner and jockey.

That win at Market Rasen may have been under two lengths but it was a stylish one and there’s more to come from this mare, who’s clearly got the backing as this big favourite in a 16-strong field.
