Kap Vert

For this race it’s really key to side with those who have the 3m form, it’s going to be a tough one around Ascot, so previous good runs at this course is also a massive benefit.

Kap Vert is potentially well-weighted for this one and can make the most of that after a decent placing at Kempton in December.

Having won his chase debut over 2m7f he went into the race two weeks later in Sunbury as the 3/1 favourite.

A few mistakes marred his chances as he had too much ground to make up with a heavy mistake early doors depleting some energy to catch up.

He was upped 8lb for that win at Taunton so looks dangerous even as an each-way bet.

Nurse Susan

Beat Jubilee Alpha last time out confirming here ability over hurdles having won ahead of Siog Geal at Cheltenham in December.

Reappears fairly quickly for this race so the Skelton yard and connections must feel she’s ready and stands a great chance of building on her last two wins and striking while she’s running so well.

Joyeuse will be a big rival but she’s winless in her last five runs after a huge Newbury victory.

Hitman

Won his first race since 2022 at Aintree in October when tipped at 9/1 and justified that backing each-way with a prominent win ahead of Master Chewy.

That form has worked out well albeit his next run was a distant third behind Djelo and Edwardstone.

Those two horses are likely miles clear of the rest of this field and if anything Hitman has more of a chance up against these kind of rivals again.

Even if just for a place profit as he’s placed second ten times in his 27 career chases and even has five thirds on top of that and four wins.
