Red Wings rumors: The star forward not named Dylan Larkin generating trade interest

The Detroit Red Wings have missed the playoffs in 10 consecutive seasons, and it could cost them their captain. Dylan Larkin has requested a trade, but David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period reports he isn’t the only forward from Detroit on the market. Red Wings winger Alex DeBrincat has garnered some trade interest, per Pagnotta.

“As the Detroit Red Wings navigate trade talks with teams about captain Dylan Larkin, some clubs are also inquiring about the potential availability of sniper Alex DeBrincat,” Pagnotta reported. “It is unclear if the Red Wings have an appetite to explore a trade involving DeBrincat, at this stage.”

DeBrincat is entering the final year of his contract, worth $7.875 million for the 2026-27 campaign. He led the Red Wings with 41 goals and 85 points last season and will turn 29 during next season.

If the Red Wings end up trading Larkin, they will head toward another rebuild under GM Steve Yzerman. That is where a DeBrincat deal could come into play, with both trades bringing future assets back to Detroit. Pagnotta outlined some teams calling Detroit on the sniper.

“The Edmonton Oilers, Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Seattle Kraken and Buffalo Sabres are some of the teams exploring the market for a top-line, scoring winger and could have interest in DeBrincat.”

Both the Kraken and the St Louis Blues tried to trade for Jason Robertson, but the Dallas Stars winger did not want to go to either place. Could they turn to DeBrincat to find their star winger? The Blackhawks already traded their first-round pick in the upcoming draft, making a DeBrincat reunion harder. The American started his career with five seasons in Chicago.
