Ravens daft video shows how Dabo Swinney tip led to franchise first
The Baltimore Ravens had eight Day Three picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, allowing them to be flexible and let owner Steve Bisciotti make one of the decisions. Bisciotti took Clemson running back Adam Randall with his pick, which he credited to Dabo Swinney.
Bisciotti revealed all the details in his call with Randall right before making the fifth-round pick. He told his newest player that Swinney gave him a glowing review, calling Randall the “highest-character player he’s ever had” at Clemson.
“I started working with Dabo a little while ago, and he told me that you are the highest-character player he’s ever had in his program,” Bisciotti told Randall. “That’s how highly he thinks of you, so I started watching you and I found out your whole story about being a wide receiver and doing what Dabo needed you to do most. You’ve got a lot of growing to do to become a good running back, but with your character and your pass-catching skills, I believe we just got you a year earlier before everybody else is going to find out how good you are. So we are about to put you in as the newest Baltimore Raven.”

Randall spent the first three years of his career as a wide receiver before Swinney switched him to running back for the 2025 season. He posted 814 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on 4.8 yards per carry in his senior season before declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft.
Randall’s limited production prevented him from being an early-round prospect, but he performed well at the Combine and during Clemson’s Pro Day, warranting late-round consideration. Bisciotti feels selecting him in the fifth round of the 2026 NFL Draft is getting him at a discount.
Randall now joins fellow running backs Derrick Henry, Justice Hill and Rasheen Ali on the Ravens’ 2026 roster.
