Rangers make shock approach to re-sign Championship star
Rangers have approached Wrexham to try and re-sign former forward Josh Windass in the January transfer window.
The 31-year-old played for the Gers between 2016 and 2018, scoring 19 goals and providing 13 assists in 73 appearances.

talkSPORT understands, as first reported by Give Me Sport, that the Scottish giants have made a loan enquiry for Windass.
He now stars for Wrexham in the Championship, but his former manager, Danny Rohl, wants to work with him again.
However, the Hollywood-owned side are not keen on letting Windass go so quickly and want to keep him at the club this winter.
Windass joined the Red Dragons in July and has since played 21 games in all competitions, scoring six goals and assisting three.
He made the move on a free transfer after leaving old club Sheffield Wednesday due to their major financial difficulties.
But it was at Hillsborough that he played under Rohl, and he is said to have not ruled out another transfer in the new year.
Windass netted 50 times in six seasons for Sheffield Wednesday, with the player working with Rohl in his last two campaigns.
A reunion could occur between the pair, but it is not yet known whether Wrexham will soften their stance on his future.
They sit 15th in the English second tier and with hopes of another miraculous promotion push looking unlikely, Windass could be tempted by a move to Scotland to join Rohl again.
Rangers will still be playing European football in January and that may be a key factor in drawing him in for a move this winter.

Second time lucky?
Windass is linked with Rangers for a second time in a matter of months, after rumours spread in the summer.
In fact, the striker confirmed that he had the chance to sign for the Scottish side before he joined Wrexham instead.
And within the same interview, in which he discussed leaving Sheffield Wednesday, he also hinted at his strong connection to Rohl, who now wants to reunite with him.
Windass told The Athletic in October: “[The decision to leave Sheffield Wednesday] was quite easy.
“I nearly left the previous summer, but with the manager [Rohl] staying, I ended up staying too.
“This time, I was ready to move on to a fresh challenge. I could have gone back [to Rangers] this summer.

“I had some really good times there, a great club. But I didn’t think it was right at this time.”
Now, with Rohl at Rangers, could it be the right time?
The German manager has taken charge of 14 games at the club since he replaced Russell Martin in the dugout at Ibrox.
He has won six of those outings, drawing three and losing five.
