Pistons’ J.B. Bickerstaff didn’t ‘pay attention to that s**’t’ when critics came howling after Game 1

On Wednesday evening, the Detroit Pistons picked up a much-needed blowout win at home over the Orlando Magic to tie up their first round series at one game apiece. While the Pistons’ offense wasn’t exactly anything to write home about in this one, scoring just 98 points, the defense thoroughly locked down Orlando, aided by some putrid perimeter shooting from the Magic, en route to tying the series.

After Game 1, there was a good deal of panic coming from the fanbase and criticism from the rest of the NBA world that the Pistons may be on fraud watch, but one person who didn’t give those claims any credence was Detroit head coach JB Bickerstaff.

“I didn’t hear any criticism. I don’t pay attention to that s**t,” said Bickerstaff, per Eric Vincent of ClutchPoints on X, formerly Twitter.

Bickerstaff and the Pistons have been lauded for their resilience throughout this season, which will certainly get the head coach some consideration for the NBA Coach of the Year honors when the voting is announced.

Meanwhile, the most important thing for the Pistons is that they got back into the win column on Wednesday, using a shocking 30-3 run in the third quarter to pull away for good against a Magic team that looked content to go home tied at 1-1.

Despite the strong performance, there are still valid concerns about Detroit’s lack of perimeter shooting and shot creation around Cade Cunningham, who led the team in scoring once again in Game 2 with 27 points.

Those traits will surely be tested further as the postseason continues, even if it’s not in this series.

Game 3 of Pistons vs Magic is slated for Saturday afternoon in Orlando.
