Pistons’ Ausar Thompson reveals ‘aggressive’ text to brother Amen before Rockets’ Game 5

The Detroit Pistons stayed alive in their first-round series against the Orlando Magic in the playoffs after pulling off the hard-earned win, 116-109, in Game 5 at Little Caesars Arena on Wednesday.

Cade Cunningham had his best game of the best-of-seven matchup to lead the top-seeded Pistons, dropping 45 points, four rebounds, and five assists. He shot 13-of-23 from the field and 14-of-14 from the free-throw line.

Ausar Thompson, meanwhile, had his fingerprints all over the contest. He tallied six points, 15 rebounds, six assists, five steals, and two blocks. His relentlessness on both ends was a huge factor, as the Pistons have lacked that workhorse mentality versus the Magic.

After taking care of business against Orlando, Thompson is now cheering for his twin brother, Amen Thompson, as the Houston Rockets visited the Los Angeles Lakers at Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday for Game 5 of their first-round clash.

Ausar said he sent a text to Amen, although he did not reveal much.

“I’ll keep it private, but it was aggressive,” said Ausar in an interview with NBA on Prime.

“Imma keep it private, but it was aggressive.”

Like the Pistons, the Rockets are fighting for their lives, as they are down 3-1 in the best-of-seven series.

Amen has been Houston’s top player against Los Angeles. In their pivotal win in Game 4, he tallied 23 points, four rebounds, and seven assists. He averaged 20.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks in the first four games, while also defending LeBron James and Luke Kennard.

As of writing, the Rockets are leading the Lakers in the third quarter.

The Pistons, meanwhile, will face the Magic in Game 6 on Friday.
