Patrick Mahomes’ wife gives one-word verdict as Chiefs icon makes NFL history with new $500m contract
Brittany Mahomes is one proud wife.
On Wednesday, the Kansas City Chiefs vaulted over the entire quarterback pack in agreeing a new extension with superstar signal caller, Patrick Mahomes.

The 30-year-old has agreed to a two-year extension, according to ESPN, which will take his guaranteed earnings to $504.75 million, and tie him to the franchise until 2023. It is the first deal in NFL history valued at over $500 million.
His new contract will come with a staggering average annual value (AAV) of $64 million a year from the 2027 season.
Mahomes, considered to be one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, has led the Chiefs to five Super Bowls, winning three being named Super Bowl MVP on all three occasions.
The deal will also eclipse the $60 million AAV deal agreed in 2024 between the Dallas Cowboys and QB Dak Prescott, which made him the highest paid player in history until now.
Brittany Mahomes reacts to Patrick’s record-breaking contract
Mahomes has been with the franchise since they selected him with the No.10 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
His storied career has seen him win the league’s MVP twice and lift three Vince Lombardi trophies.
His wife of four-years had just one-word to describe how she was feeling: “Blessed”, she wrote on Patrick’s social media post announcing the news.
Mahomes on the other hand was much more vocal after putting pen to paper.
“CHIEFS KINGDOM!!!! We are here to stay!,” Mahomes posted on Instagram.
“Love this place and the people that are apart of it and thank yall for being there for me and my family everyday! We ain’t done yet tho!

“I’m just so excited to be here for life and to be a part of Chiefs kingdom for even longer.
“We have so much more to do. Let’s go out and do it. Let’s go win some more.”
Brett Veach gives statement on Mahomes extension
This is the third-time that Mahomes has had his contract restructured during his tenure with Kansas City.
Mahomes’ initial rookie contract in 2017 was a four-year, $16.4 million deal.
The 10-year, $450 million contract he signed in 2020 was groundbreaking at the time, and he already has earned well over $200 million of it while the quarterback market has continued to skyrocket.
“This is a huge day for the Chiefs, Patrick, and really all of Chiefs Kingdom,” general manager Brett Veach said, in a statement.

“This is a landmark deal for a once-in-a-lifetime player. Patrick has grown into one of the most prolific quarterbacks to ever play the game.
“He’s changed the culture of our building and has led us in the most successful era in our franchise’s history.
“Beyond the game, he’s an incredible person who puts his team and winning above everything else.”
Mahomes is currently recovering from a season-ending knee injury, and there a doubts as to whether he will be fit to play in Week 1 against the Denver Broncos.
