Nuggets’ David Adelman stays snippy with media despite dominant Game 5 win over Timberwolves

The Denver Nuggets avoided elimination on Monday after defeating the Minnesota Timberwolves, 125-113, in Game 5 of their first-round battle in the playoffs at Ball Arena.

It was mostly a lopsided affair, with the Nuggets exerting their might on both ends of the floor. They led by as much as 27 points, with Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Spencer Jones carrying the cudgels.

But obviously, it is too early for Denver to celebrate. The Timberwolves are still ahead in the best-of-seven series, 3-2, although they are without Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo due to major injuries.

Nuggets coach David Adelman did not even look relieved at all in the postgame conference. Instead, he sounded agitated, including quickly interrupting a reporter who lauded the Nuggets’ offense, as shown in the video posted by ClutchPoints’ Rachel Strand.

“Well, offense does not matter,” said Adelman.

The reporter continued and asked about the Nuggets’ physicality.

“It was better than the first four games,” replied Adelman.

Adelman’s temperament did not go unnoticed.

“David Adelman was a little short with his postgame presser answers tonight. Very defensive,” wrote Strand.

Adelman and Timberwolves coach Chris Finch have traded subtle digs, adding spice to the brewing rivalry.

The Nuggets played with a sense of urgency from the get-go, with Jokic finally breaking out of his shooting slump, Murray playing with more control, and Jones ably filling in for Aaron Gordon, who sat out due to calf tightness.

Jokic tallied a triple-double of 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 16 assists. He shot 9-of-15 from the field and added two blocks. Murray had 24 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and four steals, while Jones contributed 20 points, three rebounds, three steals, and three blocks.

Game 6 is at Target Center on Thursday.
