Even at 39 years old, Novak Djokovic continues to reign supreme in the tennis world. That was on full display during the 2026 French Open.

During his third-round match against Brazil’s Joao Fonseca on Friday, Djokovic proved he still got it at his advanced age, per ClutchPoints.

In the second set, Djokovic was able to hang out against the 19-year-old Brazilian. Eventually, winning the battle by attacking the net and winning the second game of the second set.

Djokovic is one of the most decorated tennis players of his era, having won three French Opens. He has also won 10 Australian Opens, seven Wimbledon titles, and four US Opens. Plus, Djokovic has been able to hold onto the No.1 ranking past 37 years old.

His last French Open win was in 2023 over Casper Ruud. Altogether, he holds the record of 24 grand slam titles.

Djokovic is also coming off a loss at the 2026 Italian Open, his first loss on clay in 11 months.

Meanwhile, Djokovic finds himself in the company of other tennis legends who defied age and remain competitive. Among them are Ken Rosewell, Jimmy Connors, Roger Federer, and Serena Williams, all of whom were at the top of their game in their late 30s.

He has done it by keeping a rigorous conditioning routine, prioritizing his recovery even more, and being on a strictly plant-based diet.

So far, Djokovic has a 9–3 record during the 2026 season. He finished second in the Australian Open to Carlos Alcaraz back in January.

The 2026 French Open runs until June 7 at Stade Roland Garros in Paris.
