Noah Kahan jokingly calls out bandwagon Knicks fans after Selena Gomez’s deleted post

In the wake of Selena Gomez’s deleted post about bandwagon fans, singer-songwriter and new Knicks fan Noah Kahan is here to call them out, too.

Hours before his tour in support of his new album, The Great Divide, kicked off in Orlando, Florida, at the Kia Center, he called out bandwagon Knicks fans. Not everyone has been a fan since the start of the team’s postseason run like him.

“As a Knicks fan since May, it is really hard to see all these fakers come into my fandom,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Like where were you when we beat the Sixers? Where were you when we beat the Cavs? In fact, where was I? Where am I?”

He was at the Knicks’ Game 1 blowout win over the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Monday, May 4, so he knows what he’s talking about.

Whether or not Kahan’s post was a direct response to Gomez’s deleted post is unknown. However, it would make sense if he were playing along with the bit.

Gomez, a Texas native, is a longtime fan of the San Antonio Spurs. While the team’s 29-point collapse broke her heart, she was “happy” for the Knicks and their true fans.

However, her congratulatory message seemingly came with shade aimed at new Knicks fans. She said that it’s “so funny how some are all the sudden fans though lol.”

She also commented “lol” under a post about Taylor Swift, her longtime friend, being at the Knicks’ Game 4 win over the Spurs. Gomez later clarified that she found the picture of Swift embracing a relieved Mariska Hargitay funny.

“Woke up and was sent so many texts,” she said, before defending herself. “I would never insult my friends nor was it an insult. The comment was a reaction to the first slide of the page.”
