Nick Sirianni’s refusal to take A.J. Brown’s complaints seriously has Eagles on verge of historic collapse
A.J. Brown has spent two seasons calling out the Philadelphia Eagles’ underperforming offense.
Jalen Hurts proved on Monday Night Football that Brown was right, throwing four interceptions and committing five total turnovers.
“We lost the game and I didn’t play well enough to help us to win,” said Hurts, who fell to 20th in the league in quarterback rating (51.9).
Why did Brown call out the Eagles?
But in an even more telling sign for the spiraling Eagles, Brown was also forced to apologize for several misses after Philly lost 22-19 to the Los Angeles Chargers in overtime.
“I’m more than capable of making those plays,” Brown said. “Jalen trusts me in any situation. I made some plays but I wasn’t great when it mattered.”
The three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver continually said he was ‘hurt’ by the Eagles’ latest loss, which dropped Philadelphia to 8-5 and kept the Dallas Cowboys (6-6-1) in contention for the NFC East crown.

“Took as much accountability as anyone I’ve seen,” one fan tweeted. “Didn’t blame or even mention anyone else. He didn’t have a good game, either, just a brutal offense all around.”
Hurts echoed Browns’ words, then tried to find a way forward after the Eagles lost their third consecutive game against a playoff contender (Cowboys, Chicago Bears, Chargers).
“It definitely stings,” said Hurts, who completed 21 of 40 passes for 240 yards and a 31.2 passer rating.
“It definitely stings. But how do you respond? And that’s the only way I know how to look at it. You’re going to see what type of resolve this does this team have. We’ve just got to dig.”
All that Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has to do is pull up Brown’s old quotes to understand how the reigning Super Bowl champions reached this new low point.
“Family is good. Everything else, no. It’s a s***show,” Brown said in November during a live stream.

Tension has been building for Philly
When the ex-Tennessee Titan was given a chance to clarify his pointed comments, Brown responded by going all-in on his own teammates.
“I think if we’re really focused on winning and doing our job, we can’t just keep slapping a Band-Aid over the defense doing their job and getting us out of trouble,” Brown said.
“At what point are we going to pick up our slack as an offense?”
He added: “It’s been week after week sometimes we’re not doing our job on offense. You can’t keep slapping a Band-Aid over that and expect to win late in the year and think you’re going to go to that at the end of the year. It’s not going to f***ing happen.”
Brown had the courage to call out the Eagles after a win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 10, knowing that what Hurts and Co. were producing on the field wasn’t Super Bowl caliber.
But just like he did in 2024, Sirianni played down Brown’s frustration and hoped that Philly would simply win its way toward temporary peace.

10. Philadelphia Eagles (8-5)
The most dramatic team in the NFL is at another breaking point.
Toughen up, Philly, and get it together.

“I’m close to being done answering these questions with this,” Sirianni said.
The Eagles are 1-3 since, and Philly has reached the point where Troy Aikman is suggesting that Jason Kelce suddenly coming out of retirement is the one thing that will save the Super Bowl champs in 2025.
Kelce doesn’t have time to help the Eagles
It’s a silly suggestion, since Kelce is more of a TV personality now than the master of the Tush Push.
He also can’t throw the ball and won’t prevent Hurts from committing five turnovers in a single game, including two on one surreal play.
Hurts would’ve been better constantly spiking the ball on Monday Night Football instead of throwing pick after pick.
Philly’s limited passing attack, which has long frustrated Brown, also overshadowed Saquon Barkley‘s game-high 122 rushing yards, which was his first time over the century mark since October.

“His (Hurts’) entire value is his legs and Eagles have taken that away from him,” one fan tweeted.
“Lousy game by Jalen Hurts,” a second fan wrote. “I think he’s setting up Cowboys to win the NFC East.”
Could Eagles give up division to Cowboys?
The last time it was this bad for the Eagles, a 10-1 start and Super Bowl dreams in 2023 collapsed into an 11-6 record and playoff embarrassment vs Tampa Bay.
Kelce ended up in tears after a 32-9 road loss to the Buccaneers and retired two months later, setting up a franchise-changing offseason for Philly that eventually led to the Eagles prying Barkley away from the division-rival New York Giants.
Hurts and Brown proved last year that an efficient passing game, paired with an overpowering running attack and a relentless defense, could create the best football team in the world.
But Brown has been calling out the Eagles for a reason since 2024, and his criticisms eerily set up the ‘sting’ of Monday Night Football.
Hurts gave away drive after drive, while Philly’s inability to pass the ball has Sirianni trying to keep his fracturing team together again.
