Maybe the San Francisco 49ers have a way to make Nick Bosa feel more like family, even though brother Joey has other things on his mind. Regardless, the latest injury update on Nick will fire up the 49ers’ fans.

Week 1 remains in play, according to thescore.com.

“It was rough early on, obviously,” Bosa said Thursday in his first news conference since the knee injury last September and subsequent surgery. “You just want to be able to play, especially how good things were going for the defense and me personally. I felt I was at a pretty high level to start the year.

“Then, as you start out wanting to quit, never play again, and never put your body in that position again. Then, slowly, you realize that you love this game and you want to get back to it. I never doubted that I could get back to where I am.”

Bosa said progress is moving forward, according to ninersnation.com.

“I’m pretty far along [in my recovery],” he said. “I’m out on the field doing a lot of stuff, trying to just take it slow because I tend to push things quicker. And obviously, I got injured pretty early last year, so there’s plenty of time for me to really kind of lay the groundwork to be ready for a long season. So, yeah, it’s going really well, and I plan on being ready.”

Bosa dealt with this injury six years ago. And that experience has helped him navigate the process this time around.

“When I did it in ’20, it was just like … get back, push every milestone as hard as you possibly can,” Bosa said. “I probably dealt with some stuff that I didn’t need to deal with in terms of just kind of the bumps in the road of recovery. Now, I’m taking it slow.”

When he has been healthy, Bosa has made noise. He reached the Pro Bowl every time he played at least double-digit games. Also, he earned the AP defensive player of the year award in 2022 when he crushed opposing offenses to the tune of 18.5 sacks.
