NFL playoff picture: What Bears win over Eagles means
The Chicago Bears secured their biggest win of the 2025-26 NFL season on Black Friday as they went into Lincoln Financial Field and beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-15. The Bears improved to 9-3 with the win while the Eagles dropped to 8-4 with the loss.
With the win, the Bears maintain their lead over the Packers at just over half a game. They also move into second place in the conference and are a half game back of the top-seeded Rams. LA travels to face the Panthers on Sunday. The big news now for Chicago is they hold the tiebreaker over the Eagles in the conference standings.
The Bears led the NFC North coming into the game, but their best win to date might have been last week over the Steelers. They beat a Joe Burrow-less Bengals squad, a shaky Cowboys team, and a Vikings team that has gotten worse and worse. They were on track to make the playoffs, but they looked like a team that would probably be one-and-done.
While the Eagles have shown considerable inconsistency, they were still the No. 2 seed in the NFC and had wins over the Chiefs, Rams, Bucs, Packers, and Lions this season. There isn’t much of an argument that this isn’t the best win on the Bears resume this season.
On the other hand, we’ve got the Eagles. They’re not a bad football team, but they’re not nearly as good as their record would indicate. They’ve now lost two straight and the Cowboys are less than two games back. Dallas’s tie against the Packers likely could cost them the division, but they have a shot heading into December. The Eagles have not given fans much reason to be excited about their Super Bowl chances, but they still have the talent that could do damage in January and February if it can get things in gear.
In Week 14, the Bears travel to face the Packers, while the Eagles travel to face the Chargers.
